What I was getting at is that even though victory areas are not simple to reach, you can reach a victory area and not be forced to contend with an enemy ... and one of the reasons FOR victory areas is to prevent stalling, turtling, etc. by forcing the two groups to get close-ish to each other.

Are the minotaurs in the top right all statues? Is the central one a wall (like the spider on the fane)?

Under normal circumstances turtling might be a problem but I doubt it will be for a draft. Yes some creatures could turtle up well but it's a far and few for the maxminis event. I would expect that not all creatures will be under command and/or able to move as a unit slowly to get to a victory area to turtle up there. At least not before something can engage them in battle. So do you think those top areas should be changed? I am curious if other people would prefer I could swap the top victory areas though it would force total confrontation and make the chance of getting VP very hard? I could do so very easily.

The statues are just normal statues, except the middle one which is a minotaur and is part of a wall. I was wanting to make it more clear but couldn't figure out how and make the minotaur clear to see. That statue is basically built into a wall and impassible just like the spider on fane.

Areas separated completely by air would be bad, because there's no guarantee that you'd draft any creature with Flight. But you could have multiple small airships locked together in battle with boarding planks, so that non-flying minis could still advance. Large creatures might have to squeeze down the planks, though. Maybe one ship rammed another, so that they're joined in a larger area. The "air" squares are functionally pits, which most people are familiar with already, so no new rules to learn. You could add in fog (cloud) squares. And since Airships are an Eberron staple, you could even add in a few of Sharn's towers to the map as well.

I think it's a nifty idea, but like Kiddoc, I don't have the software (or the skill) to do it properly.

So we now have several maps for looking over. I beleive we have a few more days to submit, so if anyone is out there looking to submit, please do so quickly.

I know we need some time to print and possiblely laminate, so we need to start deciding soon.

Very cool map Bud! I would like to see what it would be like without the winter background laid in though. I tried something similar with my Minotaur map but decided it's distracting to the eye. You can see here:



I'm just not sure it works at full size. You need to take a step back and tilt your head a little to see it. [:p]

Vry, nice maps but I will say that yours will need to be lightened up quite a bit for printing. Enhance the Contrast/Brightness up a bit and that will help.

6 maps so far from 3 different members. Not a bad turn out for the first event of its type here on the boards. I think Chris gave until tomorrow to get the entries in, so we have about 24 more hours for people to get envolved.

I think they are all great looking and we will really have to look to everyone to make the choice.

Yes they are looking good ... and none of them look crazy-odd to play ... all of them look good.

So good that I'm debating entering mine at all.

One note on the map that was a tribute of sorts - we'd have to be careful not to infringe on copyrights, etc.

Shrug, if after printing they need it lighter its easily fixed. It all depends on the printer and its settings. Perhaps the image is darker on your screen, I may have my brighteness higher than yours.

It will look a lot brighter on screen then on paper trust me. I've printed enough maps to know this. It doesn't take much to lighten them up just a small adjustment.

So do we have any more submissions? I know we need to vote soon as there will need to be printing time and laminating time (if possible for some).
