| | I have an archmage band but he's hard to run, so how bout;Nentyar Hunter x1(47)Longstrider Ranger x2(68)Xen'Drik Champions x2(46)Elf Stalker x2(30)Sharn Cutthroat x1(9)200 pts. 8 act.I know range bands are on the way out but they seem to be more forgiving to new players on tactics. Damage output is not super high but is almost all magic dmg.The 4 hitters are durable and 5 of the units benefit from the CFX.Three units have conceal.And the 2 melee hitters can outrun gith monks.Best of all 7 of the 8 have an 11 or better BAB. You could sub a wood woad for an elf if u need a better blocker, or a Half-Ogre Barb could be swapped for a Xen'Drik if u drop the Sharn for an elf warrior or wild elf raider if a better dmg.beater is your thing.I think the Xen'Drik is a better choice though for his dual roles. A mobile band, shoot and move till u get a good spot on the map for a massive arrow volley.It might keep activation control as this group will chew up fodder quickly.P.S. I love Longstrider Rangers but no one else does,why? | |

Dragon has Breath Weapon and 'Power of Drow' for +3 att to all drow. Drow Arcnae Guard has Cold Orbs & EMP Burn Hands. Spiders cause havoc.

great band to see in action, as long as ulmo is no were around.
But I think it will cost to much to build normaly. i mean if the champs are 10 $'s each thats 60 dollars for only the chams.
No, Ryld and the Xendriks is a far scarier band. It's a crapload of rares, but with all of those ranged attacks to support the melee ... I think it could be serious.

Grimlock Barbs need the Tiefling. There's not enough good commanders other than Ryld and they absolutely need it to be most effective with their low level. Arcane Guard are ok tech piece but overall not as good a beater as it needs to be. You can swap one or two for other similarly costed figures in most warbands though. Orc Wolf Shaman just doesn't work in 8 figure and believe me I've tried him and he is nice in 12 figure but gets creamed in 8 figure. Chuul is too expensive.

Right you are. But some of the builds I mentioned actually perform well against certain bands. For example, the Wolf Shaman or GFD/dual Dire Bears can sometimes be effective against medium damage/high AC bands like the Justice Archon/Gith Monk and Duergar/Helmed Horror/Chraal bands. Hezrou/Chuul bands can also be effective against FB/Goliath bands. I've played with and against them on vassal (piloted by Dagni, Kevizoid) and they're not that bad.
Still, my point was simply to ask for more variety. And thanks for obliging. [)]

This looked interesting as the orc skellys and grimlocks can gain from Ryld and while not the fastest pieces can move. The Death Sladd adds a second commander and a cool ability with the rend. Drow Arcance Guard is an interesting tech piece. Conceal 11, 3 spells, reach 2, and not horrible stats. | |

| A band that did very well at the championships can easily be tweaked for an 8 figure format, be tuned for the current metagame AND still fit the rules of this challange:
Orog Warlord 71
3 Chraal 35 x3
Kobold Sorc 20
Kobold Miner 3
Mountain Orc minion - free
Mongrelfolk minion - free
8 activations, access to 3 MW spells for the chraals allowing them to swing at +14 if needed, with 3 fast hitters, and a kobold miner for lucky T1 tile points.
For maps I would choose the drow outpost or mushroom cavern. The band should hold up against most of the field. Having the kobold Sorc for MW spells strengthens it against the expected justice archon/couatl combo.
