| In my country, we used to play 200point triad omly.(I even didn't know that there is other DCI game format!)
Anyway, I realize that there are different game formats like all assault or extreme for DCI tournament and now I am very curious.
-What about you? What's the most common game in your tournament? Is it triad like ours? If you're not, what's your games? I'm also curious about your opinion about triad. ;)

| At the moment in Venezuela we play 100 points warbands for the old standar (from aberrations) rule, the first to score 100 points or to route the entire enemy army.
We usually play good against evil, or chaos against law making possible mixing factions. We choose this way because the game begin to play recently and not all the people have plenty of minis to play.
Now we are moving to a more standar way for factions and 200 points, because we are more and no rookies at all. ΖD] | | Knight of the Quori Champion of King Kaius III of Karrnath

| My favourite? The Eternal Campaign. It's fun when you pick a warlord from your favourite faction, and watch him or her level up and acquire some neat magic items.
For one-time play, I've always enjoyed 500 pt extreme/epic matches. The huge minis look fantastic in battle. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| When I see the Tournament Report, I can guess
that 8 unit rule is going to be more common(maybe 70%~80%).
Also using map rule(80%~90%) and 500 Epic (40%) warband is more prevalent.
For between Triad and Assault, almost of them enjoy Assault Format.
Personally, I like 200pts, Assault, 8 Unit Rule game
Anyway, Hello quori~~ Nice to meet you~~

| It will be interesting to see if WotC institutes a true Triad for the 2006 season. Building a band to be competitive in all 3 formats was one of the fun features of 2004. Plunder was just wrong, and thus the developers never really embraced the triad format in 2005!
My Fav? 200 pt sealed/constructed 12 figs, tiles. I haven't played enough on maps or with 8 figs to call it my favorite....

The DCI Rules reference Triad play as an option in official tournaments.
There are 3 types of play in the triad, and they are rotated in each game.
In 2004, Triad formats were: Quickstrike Cave of Pain Standard
In 2005, the Triad format became: Assault Cave of Pain Plunder
WotC realized before the big tournaments got going that Plunder just didn't work (it worked fine for certain archtype warbands, but was nearly impossible to win with others), and they pushed forward with JUST assault for those major tournies.

| I'm on the other side of the plunder arguement. I liked that the format was so different. It forced you to try to design a warband that could win in all 3 types (A/CoP/P). Which btw is very had to do.
IMHO plunder could make a come back w/ 8 figs and maps. There are less VP areas on the maps compared to the 4-5 you could get w/ tiles and maps. Of course playing on a map that had 3 on one side and 2 on the other would be a tad unfair. But you win the map roll, your opponents picks the side (IIRC). | | They just don't know what's good in life...Conan, tell them what is good in life. To rip the boosters. | | Assault is what is the most typical format in tournaments. My preference blind partner multi-player to the death. Basically everyone sets up on map (maps) and then your partner's name is handed to you by third party (usually store owner) and begin. When playing with 8 teams it took a bit to determine who was partnered with what other player. | | Champion of Cyclops

Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun! Guess that means I'm crazy, but I already knew that.
I've always been a big fan of sealed and draft, but lately I've been enjoying epic quite a bit, as well. This is all probably because I'm not as good in the 200 pt. constructed format, though. [:D] | | Champion of Gnomes

| i like assault 200pts matches. I don't care if it's 12 or 8 figs bc not many people in my group have over the fig limit warbands.

I used to also, but my recent spate of commanderless runs has soured me to the format greatly.
My favorite? Probably 100 Standard. Quick, fun and not reliant upon speed.
I also like Plunder. Assault is probably my least favorite just from burnout. | | Champion of Prit(Wemic vindication is here) Minneapolis/St. Paul area Completed trades: Aspect of Cheese (Love that moniker), Tickparasite, Elderthing, Lalato, Sodj, Grimoire, SmilinIrish, Zeb, RWarehall,Link, wikkawikkawa, Auramancer, Rommers, HK, Ivid5,Qillan_dvra, Puggins, Arcabius, Ironfist Boulderbender, Robby, Corim Danex, monster_slayer, DNDJUNKIE, Kelemvor, Krush, ckissee, Massawyrm, hockey fan, Wish, Uninspiring Lieutenant, vtloon x2, Vrecknidj, Darthpoke, WakeXX, AnarionZell, lycusmike, papabear5 and umpteen local trades with board members

| I'm a little tired of assault - I hope there is some replacement next year.
I like sealed - it is just a challenge to try to make things work when you can't optimize things. I'd rather play than build warbands, unless I'm building weird, non-tier 1 bands, but I like to win...

| I like formats that are non-standard, like the Protect the Innocent format I ran a while back, or some of the King of the Hill kinds of ideas I've seen thrown around.
The usual 200-point assault gets dull after a while.

| So maybe we need another playable game format.
Is there any good idea? Well, Some our members used to play various formats which are in Miniature Hand Book. In there, "Center Occupation(I don't know exact name.)" Format was most interesting.
Maybe, now we can try that formats in Tournament.. :)
BTW "Boar Hunting" game was also the one interesting. But I think it should be changed to "Dire Bear Hunting", or "Taskor Hunting :)"......

| TO THE DEATH!!! Assault is for wussies! [:p] I don't always enjoy assault that much and prefer good old fashion killing the opponent's warband. It'd be nice if there were other options to counter the BS turtling that used to occur other than assault format. I mean out of all the concepts they have only one is used for sanction play. Show some damn creativity WoTC!
