| So, what do you think would be the worst matchups for a dual Large Red Dragon band? (Assume Tiefling captain + filler.)
Helmed Horrors aren't immune to the breath weapons, though they'll probably save and take 15. The bite attack is fairly reliable against AC 22, so figuring two breaths and one bite, the HH is now down to 45. If there are a bunch of HHs on the table, assume two breaths on some, one on some, and now you've got to distribute the bites.
The HH is hitting for 10 or 20 per round, probably averaging something like 13 points per round. So, that's a morale save after a few rounds.
Gith monks are going to get hit even less often and so look dangerous, and with a Couatl around the breath is likely doing 5 points, but the 20 fire damage if you're really lucky will put them within a single attack of a save.
I'm seeing a lot of talk of Gauths again, and so LRDx2 is looking good. On the other hand, LRD, Red Sam x2 isn't too bad either.

| | Yeah, gith monks backed by a couatl is an awful match-up. The gith's can do a possible 40 a round and 30 of it is auto magic (if near the YM) and thats 90 (assuming he used three giths) auto damaging morale. The couatl could emp. lesser sonic the whole time as well, or snake swiftness a monk. | | Champion of Bruenor Battlehammer | |

| Anything that has a lot of fire immune/resistance creatures would give you a headache. Forcing you to do pretty much only melee. The LRD is pretty good in melee but not as good as a multihitter warband from any faction. Three or four beaters attacking twice a round on any LRD is enough to mess it up fast. That is not even including any tech power behind them. It's a brutal warband to have dual LRDs but it's also very limited. I've contemplated LRD/Balor for kicks and it's about the same. Titan builds even dual ones are too open to work all the time because one or two bad rolls can ruin your game.

| | Triple Frenzied would be a extremely tough match up for Dual Red. As would be monks if your keeping the speed two rule. The monks should be able to get your commander easily then force you to spread out the dragons in order to get any kill or tile points. They don't mind risking a single AoO to get away from the dragons. Due to their speed you shouldn't expect to hit more than 1 monk per BW plus some fodder maybe. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! | To be honest, the nonexistent band of
3x JA 2x Couatl fodder
Kicks LRDs up and down the street.
It is simply not pretty. You can't kill the JAs fast enough. The couatls alone can deliver 180 points of sonic damage.
I say that having been on the wrong end of the matchup.
Let it be. | |

That worked for that dork who won the California Open, but he would get PWNED today with a weaksauce warband like that !!!!! Plus, I heard that dork got really lucky in several matchups. | | Member of the Low Post Count but High Post Content Society
