I hope it brings you all fun games. I'm anxious to test it out myself now.

I agree! This is another great way to have the MaxMini's Events standout. Draft, and custom map! We'll probalby have the GenCon Info going up right after WF. First order of business will be assessing how the map went at WF (i.e. Chad: did it cost a little as you expect, and can you do it again!), and starting a new contest.
I have my own idea for that one...

| Congartulations Robbdaman!
There was some discussion on whether we should switch the top victory areas for this map. Shall we come to an agreement on that? Also, do we want the new sandy floor version or the old stone/brick floor version? I personally vote for the sandy floor but I haven't printed it out yet. I'll try to do that tonight. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4

| | Rob can you lighten up the grid a bit? There are some walls and grid lines that are close to the same thickness that can be difficult to discern which is which. Also, can the triangles and other markers be made to be the same size? Can you remove the ones that are straddling two spaces and put a triangle in each square? These changes would make it a lot better IMO. Does anyone else agree or not? Sorry if I sound nitpicky. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4 | |

Agree w/Chad. I voted for Rob's map, and it's amazing, but just like any great masterpiece, it could use a little polish! I agree w/using the sandy-floor version too. Congrats to Rob on the map.

| For clarity and simplicity, sure. That way it won't confuse anyone. I know where all the different terrain is why don't you? [:p] I'll make the grid hot pink, that way you'll know where it is for sure. [:o)]

| If I print out 20 copies of the Maxminis draft tournament map for Gen Con Indy does that grant me a spot in the National Championship Tournament? :P
Seriously though, I don't see any reason why I can't do this again for Gen Con Indy. The teacher with the plotter and I are good friends/co-workers and I always offer to pay for any additional costs my excessive printing would cost his department. So far he has been very agreeable and accommodating. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4

| Kith:
You can check the Meetingplace forum for details. But yes, to mix things up, the MaxMinis Draft event at Winter Fantasy will be played on this custom map.
Chad has offered to get the printed up, and several people have jumped in to help defray the costs. Chad has also indicated (correct me if I'm wrong) that he will be laminating a few of them, and they will end up in the prize pool at the end of the night.

| Robbdaman; Thanks for making and sharing this (and other) maps.
I particularly like the Layrinth for several reasons.
1. No line of sight between the starting areas, and possible but difficult to achieve in first turn.
2. Tactical applications for engagement. (Ranged and melee both applicable)
3. First turn assault points difficult but possible to achieve.
4. No strong advantage taking one side over the other
Not to mention that the map seems balanced, aesthetically pleasing, and breaks the 'game rules' in a significant manner that allows more figures to be playable, without overwhelming power.
Having said that, I might try an Umber Hulk on this map! Cursed Spirit seems to be powerful also...
Nice work. | | | |

| I shall print about 20 copies in total. I think I can get about six to ten of them laminated. I shall throw two laminated versions into the prize pool. The remaining copies will be for sale afterwards to anyone at the event to be applied to my printing/laminating costs only - (No markup or profit for me). We just need to be careful about selling stuff in the gaming area, I don't know what the legality of that would be. Is there anyone going to Winter Fantasy that will have a vendor table?
Non-laminated full color printout on 22"x34" sheet - $2.00 Laminated full color printout on 22"x34" sheet - $10.00
Event organizers and friends - please email me at chad.dragonlord@gmail.com for special pricing.
CShroder - I count you as a friend so email me with a number of how many copies you want. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4

| Chad:
I've only been to WF since DDM came out.
2 years ago they had Chessex, and Neutral ground as vendors. Last year it was ONLY WotC selling product. I don't think that anyone would get worked up if you sell your maps (assuming that Robbdamon doesn't...).

Will you be at Winter Fantasy? I'll give you a free laminated copy or two when I meet you. Whatever you need. | Sadly I'm far from the DC area and in the middle of a semester at school. Oh an being a broke college student doesn't help much. I wish I could go but alas that's not in the card for the moment (I can't afford more than one card) [:p]. I will work on getting to GenCon SoCal later this year though. If I plan it early I'll be able to go and have my best friend there as well.

Yeah and charge him double while you're at it! No! Make it triple! [:p] Actually if you shipped out in a poster tube you can just send mine and his pretty easily I would guess.

| | I took a copy of the Minotaur Labyrinth to our monthly DDM tournament on Saturday to try it out. I have to say it plays out pretty nicely. The hallways approaching the blood rock are narrow but there are enough route choices to reach the middle that you don't feel cramped. The large spike stones area can be a nice safe stopping point for a flying piece as there are too many spikes to cross for a ground piece to attempt to penetrate it. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4 | |
