| so did the Xen'Drik Champion fyl under the radar?
is he better then everyone thought? is there going to be a band worthy of tournment?
seems to me that the Xen'Drik Champion is just a mini everyone thought as of... meh... i sure did. but maybe he's much better then we first believed.
have anyone tried out some of the 6 Xen'Drik Champion bands? they seem to be able to hold there own on paper.
what do you guys think? | | Poor student looking for minis =D

| I've run 6 Xen Champs in light, friendly games on VASSAL, never against anything really rough. Nevertheless, the band has yet to lose, so I wouldn't write it off just yet. I like both its mobility and its versatility.
I've come to the conclusion, however, that they work best in such swarms. They offer a fair amount as a mid-cost support piece, but often not enough to turn the tide. I've found that a Xen'drick really needs to be in the right place at the right time to be effective... which is just easier to do if there are six of them on the board. | If we had a commander that granted sidestep... xendriks would become huge.
for their points, you don't get a better attack bonus, but you DO get better damage, and these days, particularly in the chaotic factions, the damage is what is focused on, and it seems to me that the skirmish ability just won't be used often enough to make it incredibly playable.
it's special abilities make it slightly more survivable, but for the price range, there are several options that can put out more damage and have more HP(half-ogre barbarian comes to mind) | | Champion of Dracotaur- Vindicated! T32

| | To be effective, they need to maximize their ranged attacks. If you move one in the early game and don't attack with it, you might be in trouble later in the match. Even if played perfectly, you generally need to get lucky and have your opponent miss some conceal checks. Considering that Marut and Helmed Horror bands are somewhat popular, that might be a tough thing to expect. | | | |

| | The problem is sweeping damage. Anything that can delivber one or two large damage hits to a number of creatures can destroy this warband. It is a fine concept, but concentration of hit points has its merits. | | I've seen them in a lot of Eternal Campaign games. They're pretty effective, at least at lower point values. They hit reliably, are hard to kill, and have excellent saves for their point cost (comparable to dwarves). They don't hit very hard though, which means they're going to be meat against higher point value targets. They're great at 100 points, and I think viable at 200 points if you can't fit another 30+ point beater in, and already have enough tech. | | | |
