Round Four! Water Bracket Finals!
Here are the bands!
HidesFromHurricanes
Dark Traveller Xen'drik Champion x6 Halfling Wizard
Dark Traveller gives melee reach to the XCs so they may not be taking the AoO to get their damage bonus. XCs also double as missile support. Hafling wizard stays out of the way.
Update on strategy: The Dark Traveller is there to provide melee reach and at the opportune moment smite (total 25 magic). He can keep up with XCs with swift burst if needed. If there is a big elemental damage component in the opponents, he can get resist 10, but probably save the PPs for burst and Exhalation of Black dragon. XCs will be tag teaming on opponents to keep up there skirmish +10 damage, the trick being to kill things before you have to activate a based XC. The Halfling Wizard can autodamage with MM and 2 Scorching rays where needed. May do the mage armor on a early round. General strategy is to snipe early and often, avoid the hulks like the Clay Golem, prefering to move and take shots on the support pieces. Tile points will be taken by whoever is available, I see it rotating, eventually falling to the Halfling Wiz.
Map of choice Mushroom Chamber (better for one commander archery band) but expect to play on the other players map with commander 2.
felagund Ghaele Eladrin 124 Xen'drik Champion x2 46 Half-ogre Barbarian 25 Catfolk 5
Map: Hellspike
It's all about the Ghaele. Improved Initiative, Blindsight, Fear Gaze, F12. These should compensate for her low HP:cost ratio when she's not competing against the tier 1 figures. Not to mention the CE could very well come in handy. | | Triangle DDM Skirmish Group | My Email | 45-ish trades and counting | Stuff for Trade * * * Show your brother some love and click here * * *

| No Vote. Assuming the Hellspike, the saving grace is while behind/in the smoke everyone is immune to Ghaele's gaze. But we suffer the hail of arrows. So its a matter of how many XCs are left when taking on the Ghaele. I think it would be close. | | Champion of Savage Bard (Unearthed Arcana: Bard Variant) Bloodwars Called shot (vindicated) Demonic Gnoll Adept/Priestess Old Jagermonster Saying: Any Plan vere you luz your hat iz a BAD Plan. | |

| Unfortunately you can't change your map during a tournament HFH. I'll go with felagund - Ghaele but I do think it'd be a close game. One bad roll from Ghaele or a couple good ones from a Xendrik and the game would be over.

He's probably assuming Hellspike because that's the ghaele map of choice, and the ghaele has a much better chance to win map initiative here. | | Anson on WotC boards

| I think the gheale will probaly have the advantage. But she could suffer from the death of a thousand cuts. That being said.
I still have to go with the Ghaele.

Eventually, I think the Xendrick net would close around the Ghale. With them all shooting at her each round, with at least a few getting off those skirmish attacks, she'd eventually have to go down.
Would be an awesome game to watch though. | | Champion of the Prestige Class where mages focus on telekenesis and start throwing people into the ceiling and uber stuff like that. Desirer of a Commander Effect in CG that grants Sidestep to followers with a ranged attack.

| Ghaele will pull this one out. Even with all the minor damage from Xendrik's she can heal her self for 50 at any time. Her return fire will be massive on the Xendrik's and she can fire through the smoke while they can. She will use this to her advantage.

Other positives for the DT/XCs is activation control for most of the game. The smoke will also protect against the XC arrows from the Ghaele band. Round 1 sees my band camped in the the smoke in the middle of the board ready to pounce(halfling wiz has started his waddle to the nearest victory area). Round 2 sees serious skirmish action. I figure by end of round 3 we are down to DT (w/o smite) and 2-3XCs vs the Ghaele. The Halfling Wiz may be parking his butt on a victory area, assuming he dodge all the main action/no stray XC arrows. | | Champion of Savage Bard (Unearthed Arcana: Bard Variant) Bloodwars Called shot (vindicated) Demonic Gnoll Adept/Priestess Old Jagermonster Saying: Any Plan vere you luz your hat iz a BAD Plan.

| I've never been a huge Gheale fan, but this is a very nice matchup for Jake. If her 2 XC's and HOB can tie up 3 of the baddies, she can easily shred the other 3.
So my vote goes for Felagund. | | Rhane "The focus is sharp in the city..." Have/Want List Reference thread Avatar Thread

The Ghaele will drop too fast from the xendrik's hitting her in melee, since they'll still get their skirmish bonus on their opening melee attack. After she goes down, Hurricanes will have the leg up on having more champs left then. | | Champion of the Hellwasp Swarm New subscriber to rule #0: bshugg is always right.

| Assuming we play on Hellspike, here's how I see it happening. Xen'driks will take a round of arrows from the Ghaele. Then they can move in to attack, but they'll have to go through my Xen'driks and Half-Ogre first. By the time those are out of the way, I expect 2-4 opposing champs to be dead. When it's just the Ghaele, I can make a melee attack against whatever's based me, then fly 12 spaces away. He can take aoo's for 5 damage (or 10 if he crits! [:)]) He can't get at me to make attacks in the same round, so he can either double move to base me and we repeat the cycle, or move part of the way, hoping for the initiative to go in his favor for the skirmish damage. Heal for 50 when I need it.
This match could go either way, but as I see it, HFH needs luck on his side for it to swing his way. With average rolling, I think I can take it. | | Champion of Gnomes

Phew, I thought you might drag me on to the Mushroom Cavern and have the XCs running across the spiked stones to catch you. Overall, I think it'll be tricky for the Xendricks to consistantly avoid the gaze attack. | | Felagund should pull this one off. DR on Ghaele will force a melee battle as the hexadrik's band will get torn apart at ranged. Since he has the advantage, he can get proper positioning to really force the Xendrik's to engage at a bad position. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested!
