The odds of not pulling a spellcaster in 2 boosters are realllllly low. If my slot divisions are correct, the odds of not drawing an uncommon spellcaster to go with arcane ballista in a pair of boosters is: Ώ - Γ/7 * 5/7 * 5/7 * 5/7 * 5/7 * 5/7]] ~ 13.3% ... If that happens, that is a worse pull ... but in the other 86.7% of the time, I'd rather have that catapult to really toss some early hurt into the game. It'd still be a bad draw, but it'd have a slight chance of being incredibly effective, where Snig ... sucks. | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. | From personal opinion, I personally think that Obould is my biggest dissapointment. He is god and has a great commander effect but how was he not an epic? I see thier point of making him before he was god touched but please, when are they gonna make his huge bad-arse version? Besides that the worst skirmish piece is the Lion of Suckiness thing. The GFD is way better than that piece. | | Champion of Tavern Stripper Knight of Knights Squire of Death Giants Somethin-or-another of Big Arse Swords

| Here's another thing I thought of that bugs me. In the preview for Snig they talk about making it so you had a good chance in limited of drawing an actual minion, since some of his points are for his minions you should get a good chance at getting his full effectiveness (although I think even if he was your only commander you would be better off playing without a commander.) Anyway, so it stands to reason that the Inspired Lieutenant paid a few points for the part of his commander effect that affects Psionics people, as opposed to just a +2 to everyone period, like the Half Orc Sergeant. So what are your chances of pulling a Psionic mini in sealed to get full effectiveness from the Inspired Lieutenant? Given the Blood Ghost Berserker my guess is that LE will see a Goblin Mindbender in war of the Dragon Queen. Of course that will still be a piece that doesn't really do melee. Maybe they will have Duergar Psychic Warrior? | | | |

| Consider this about the Night Hag.
She's got a semi-decent HP to cost ratio. She has DR, Spell Resistance, and Fire and Cold resist. She has a solid 22AC. She's slow, but while she's trudging to combat, she can be firing magic missiles. Ray of Enfeeblement is always nice. When she gets based, she is fairly accurate for more damage than the Bone Devil and as much as the Barbed Devil's attack.
I wouldn't be upset to use her in Sealed.
So many units have 65HP that see a lot of play, and the Hag can make it so that it takes 1 less hit to kill some of those units.
Her save isn't all that bad either, and she's sure as heck not going to route off the board.
She's an every-round damage unit that you can't base with a low cost unit just to stop her from casting.

Excuse me? No faction "got the shaft" in this set. Certain factions got more help than others, but every. single. faction. got some good, usable new pieces.
Then we must agree to dissagree. We have some usable pieces, but nothing that really puts CG back on the playing field. I do like the stealheart archer, but what I like and what wins touneys are not the same.
So how about the Brass Samurai as a commander for the Aspect of Kord. 30 damage whirlwind strike with reach:2 [:D] Or Lion of Tallsid as a commander for Dire Bears/greycloack-wolves. Or Warbound Impaler; 2 attack with DC17 paralyze. It wears off next turn, if the paralyzed unit is alive to have a "next turn"... | | Don't worry about the current metagame. Hehe, I guessed you missed the Lion of Talisid being only Beastmaster 7, Xaos. [:p]
I was excited too about the Lion of Talisid being able to bring those Dire Bears to deal 20 damage per attack, and then I saw the beastmaster rating. I guess they don't want to make those bears competitive. [:(]

| Snig Worg Rider is probably the most disappointing for me, followed closely by Arcane Ballista and Warduke.
I too expected more from the Warforged and Wemic Barbarians, but not really that affected as much. They are still solid pieces that could substitute for one of the Berserkers if needed.
I do have to say that the Brass Samurai and the Dragon Totem Hero are hardly disappointing. They may not be as good utility-wise as the Inspiring Marshal, but their commander effects and combat abilities (especially the Brass Samurai) are good enough to make them as your second competitive commander of choice behind the Marshal.

Ooops, actually I missed the bears needing beastmaster:8 opposite end of the same problem. I still want to try this commander with a dozen Timber Wolves (in an 8 figureband) So long as the scenario is not "Bounty". And Dire Wolves should be OK.

The Warforged Barbarian and Wemic Barbarian were pretty dissapointing. They're both costed around the same as the Frenzied Berserker, but don't offer very much more. If the Warforged Barbarian were about 43 points it'd be perfect, but it's 49 points are too close to the FB's 52 points.
The Wemic actually costs more than the FB, but, again, doesn't offer much more.
Other than those few dissapointments, War Drums rocks (especially the uncommons).ΖD]
If Warforged/Wemic Barbarian were much cheaper than a FB. That would be massive power creep. The Wemic is faster than an FB. So in a fight between the two, the Wemic's will hit first. And if you can trigger the "Bravado", it's overwise as cost-effective. The Warforged has better immunities,DR:5 and 5 damage to enemy when it activates, also puts it on a par with the FB. The only disappointing thing about those 2 is that if you already own a couple of FB's you don't really need the wardrum figures.
My vote for most disappointing piece goes to snig+wolf. | | Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

| Snig, for all the reasons people have posted. To a new player like me who lacks the original Snig+sniglets, he feels like a slap to the face. [B)]
The second one really cant be called a dissapointment since we didnt know about it before the full spoilers, but Lion of Talisid makes me sad with it's Beastmaster 7. Just...one...point...more! [V] | | Champion of the Sarrukh
