| Yeah. I personally favor the Ogre Ravager variant, largely because I like having at least 7 activations. Plus with the Ravager only running away 10% of the time, I think that he works out decently against the Helmed Horrors and very well against all the new CE and CG bands that are going to be showing up.

Yes, I was referring to the chance per game of every single hitter making morale. Odd that the numbers reversed like that.
Now the situation I listed (Red Sam x3, OC, Wardrummer, Tiefling Captain) is just 6 activations for 199 points, but the +4 morale may make it worth the activation deficit. Or, trade the TC down for a Drow Sergeant, get 8 acts, and still have a 35% chance of everyone making morale. Or, trade one Red Sam for an Ogre Ravager and get that extra Orc Warrior.
There are a lot of solid possibilities.

| Everyone's focused on the dragon temple map, but the teleporter map is also a hinderance to the 4X HH bands as well.
It is much easier to get at that kobold sorcerer and kill it before it can cast those juicy magic weapon spells. If the HH player opts for Snig instead, you can get to and kill the fodder (and limit the HH activations) far more easily on this map as well.
As these will be 2 of the most popular maps ... HH has another hit, there.
HH has a lot of strengths ... it also has weaknesses, too. In a 16 player tournament with 4 of these warbands, you could see all 4 bands make the final 4 if nobody brings a band to exploite their weaknesses ... or you might see none of the 4 make it very far if lots of people bring good counter bands.
They are a viable figure that needs to be considered, but they are far from the dominant figure that the OC was in its day ... | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. | I just used to great success at the Megacon in Orlando for the 500pts tournament the following warband: HH x3 Beholder x 2 Dark Naga Fire Giant Mind Flayer telepath
It worked great, the HH were excellent blockers allowing the beholders to work their magic.

Oops, my mistake. I believe however that in that case the number is 52%, not 58% (.85^4=.522). Am I missing something? | | Champion Of Hydras

| | The math goes as follows, in the given situation .85 is incorrect b/c a 3 rolled will still make morale for a red sam; consequently, it has probabilty .9 for making a save. Orc champ - on the other hand is sixteen divided by twenty making it's morale (again with the wardrummer +4 to save & tiefling) which is .8. .8*.9*.9*.9 = .5832. In his example he listed 3 red sams and one orc champ. | | | |
