| Please bear in mind that this situation is ment for fun play only, and that I know it would have very little effect in an actual tournament environment.
Recently while going through my stats cards and thinking about potential warband combinations for a 500 point game coming up, I came across this little tidbit on a not so commonly used commander.
Lareth the Beautiful's commander effect basically states (as far as I can tell) a critical hit scores triple damage, for either side.
Ryld Argeth has the "Keen" commander effect on his chaotic evil side, which means that criticals are scored on either a 19 or a 20, thus increasing the chances, of a large damage bonus.
My question is, do these effects stack on non-commander figures? I know that they wouldn't work on each other, but if both commanders had the same single figure under command?
Such as if both commanders were to affect a nightwalker at the same time, would it increase the chances of putting out some tremendous damage on critical hits?
The reason I'm asking is this:
Nightwalker 393pts Lareth 54pts Ryld 55pts =499 points for 500 play.
A convenient total for a fun game. I know that it's not very efficiant when compared to most other 500 point warbands, but I kinda like the idea of good old Lareth unleashing a gigantic undead on some unsuspecting victem.
I mean, even a HGD (Huge Gold Dragon) might think twice about getting to close to somthing that could score potentially (albiet rarely) 90 damage a hit against it.
Any feedback is appreciated.Thank you.

| | Two different commander affects DO stack. If both added 5 dmg, or both tripled on a crit, they would NOT stack, as they are affecting the same stats. | | Larry Lindeman trade refrences: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12442 | |

| So this would work then, as the two commanders are not affecting the same stat, rather two different aspects of it?
Lareth is affecting the damage of the critical hit, and Ryld is increasing the chance to land it.
So they compliment each other quite well then, despite the ungodly cost of bringing both commanders into a game at the same time. (109 points is to much for a one trick pony.)
Thank you for clearing that up.

Ryld's commander effect only works on Humanoids. While the Nightwalker "looks" Humanoid, it's type is "Undead". Replace Ryld with the Tiefling Captain & it will work. If your going to try that combo, you might want to put Ettin Skirmishers in the warband. | | Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

| Thank you, I didn't notice that before. The tiefling is a nice substitute (albiet fairly squishy in 500 play), and the extra points it allows can definetly be put to good use...
Now there only question is, where the heck can I get my hands on some ettin skirmishers....[)]
Thanks again. | | | |

An interesting idea, but a little FYI so you don't get DQ'd.
This = 502 points, not 499

Ryld isn't much tougher in 500-point play.
