| Just a reminder for Europeans (and others) who haven't seen this, and who *might* want to attend! We're still online for between 60 and 80 players, but we don't know exactly - many are taking some time to make their final bookings.
Competition Details: 29th of April and 30th of April Thistle Hotel, Birmingham City, England
Saturday 09:00 – 21:00 200pt Constructed Championship 14:00 – 19:00 200pt Constructed Secondary Tournament
Sunday 09:00 – 17:00 200pt Wardrums Sealed Championship 09:00 – 17:00 500pt Constructed Championship
18:00 – 21:20 200pt Atlantic Cup (top 6 players, Tournament Organiser and Kiddoc)
Drider Sorcerer is banned, per DCI rules.
Drop Out Tournament: It is possible that your original warband is just not performing or things are going badly. As an option for these players, there will be a secondary tournament starting after lunch on the Saturday. You are able to change your warband from the main tournament if you choose to enter this Drop Out tournament. Dropping out does not affect your DCI points. If you drop out early it is possible to do some “casual” gaming in the main room – the Wroxton Suite.
Maps: The following maps will be legal: • Fane of Lolth • Queen Peregrin • Drow Enclave • Mithral Mines • Drow Outpost • Magma Keep • Mushroom Cavern • Hellspike • Dragon Shrine • Field of Ruin • Teleport Temple • Broken Demongate – a corrected version of this map will be included in your delegates’ pack • The Kings Road • Keep of Fallen Kings I • Dungeon of Blood
Prize Support:
Hasbro: 2x £350 prizes, 4 automatic invites to GenCon Indy 2006 for the top 4 players. There may also be more in the way of booster support. Atari: 4 copies of the Atari online Dungeons and Dragons PC game – one of these will be a special edition one with 2 Angelfire minis included. The Event: 6 dragons from Tudormint. Italy: An excellent repaint of the DDM Balor by Zanaroth, one of the top minis painters. Belgium: The famous Belgian chocolate Scotland: Some of their excellent Whiskey* England: 1 Kg of Shortbread Poland: 3 different, 250ml, bottles of Polish Vodka and a mythical figure from Polish folklore* Germany: Some German beer!* Czech Republic: A dragon made out of the finest Czech crystal.

| I hope the Italian, German and Czech ones are translated to English - I also would love to read them!!!
I'm in Sweden on holiday this year during GenCon so, even with the wind behind me, I'll not be able to come. Silly me, I booked my 2006 holiday immediately after my 2005 one and before any GenCon dates were released. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| Yeah, me too - last year both the top 2 (one of whom got £350 - £250 is still missing - WoTC still need to pay their bit) were in the midst of exams and studies and couldn't make it.
What would be cool is if WoTC actually provided passes also ;) | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| I tested the Archmage/Ryld/King's Road
containing Archmage, Ryld, Rikka, 4x Xeph and Elf Warrior
and won all 4 round map and setup ini's against 2x Ryld, Human Blackguard and Snig.
A lot of people played CG (nearly 50%) going with Ryld...
All warbands that I faced except the Warband in the "Final" had 11 activations!!! (Perfect when playing Archamge [B)] ) | | My Haves and wants: http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Janos_M.

Pawel, a Polish player who is at the EU Challenge Cup, played a variant of this and tested Rikka and the Celestial Pegasus as the secondary beater. At the UK Challenge cup I think he went 4-2 - he's definitely an Archmage specialist.
By the way - although that map is perfect for the archmage (can fly over), it doesn't allow blindsight to work. Very sad about this... I'd considered an Archmage band for that map. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

I am sorry to hear this. We were possibly up to 4 Spanish players coming to the Competition. There are now *possibly* two and they haven't confirmed. I therefore don't think they will come (all flight tickets will now be very expensive). Maybe you can come for the 2007 EU Champs instead... or... get on a boat from Santander or Bilbao... | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| Gruumsh is pretty much on my list of one. The one player I've played many times on Vassal that... well, let's just say I'm almost *glad* he lives in Belgium! I wouldn't want to be sitting across from him in a Championships game!
No, seriously though, he's helped me practice for tournaments, especially back in 2004, and I'd love to see him do well, plus it'd be great if he won a trip to GenCon, so I could meet him in person. Add in that I've long considered him one of the top players in the game, and yes, I'm a fan. (Though I have no idea if he's in practice of late.)

Gruumsh is indeed a very good player, and he, and Charles de Ghoul are practicing very hard based on the number of times I see locked rooms on Vassal. I've played him 2-3 times I think and can say with certainty that those games were some of the toughest I've had and were always very close! He's also just a nice chap - I'm looking forward to meeting him.
Of course, as the Tournament Organiser, I can't root for anyone - in fact, my role, recently, has been to set myself up online to be played by any European who wants a practice game!
I've played 20-25 of the European players who are coming, in person and online and can say without doubt that even Gruumsh will have a tough time. The standard of the game is very high and a lot of the gamers are working very hard at reading the metagame, practicing and working towards the goal of being the best player in Europe! | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

I have a camera - but we have to wait to find out about the access to the Internet. Atari are coming with a LOT of PCs that have the new DnD Online game setup and they need the Internet. The hotel does not have broadband - but they do have one machine available with Internet connection paid by the hour. Luckily that machine is in a room in the middle of the gaming area. Atari are going there tomorrow and I hope they can agree with the hotel to extend that Internet point... If so I have agreed with Atari that we could connect to it also. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum
