| | Since we are all spitting into the wind. If the map used is King's Road, then the Night Hag would have given you much trouble. She has the disguise ability to move undetected by non-blindsighters, along with Dr:5 and Immune:Fire & Cold to thwart the Chralls and Fire Blasters(Efreeti,RLD,Red Sams...etc). She also sports a respectable Ac 22 that is only helped by the woods cover. If those reasons are not enough...She Has 1 use of Ray of Enfeeblement along with Unlimited Magic Missile useage. Now the only problem is having a high enough Commander to win you the Map choice. | | Agent of Amish | |

| The comment "You'd think I'd have learned" makes me lean toward Archmage. Not sure why, but he's more mobile than HH (both with blindsight/fly so ignoring forest for the most part) and getting a sword on Rakshasa = dead Rak and Chraal pretty easy without retaliation.
But then, this is supposed to be Nost.... I'm clueless.
And not to blow anyone's ideas up, most casters in forest are not happy.... You have to have a target (even for cones) before you can cast and if you get that close (adjacent in forest because non-adjacent = invisible) you're probably in trouble, especially against HH's.

I put the cart before the horse. A caster who is based in a forest can see the adjacent figure and can cast unmolested, THEN they can move away prevent a round of full attacks on the next turn.
So stick your casters on the edge of the forest, cast while the enemy approaches, cast when they base, move away and repeat ad nauseum.
Forests are GREAT for casters. | | Champion of the Cleric with Raise Dead

| How about the recent mad beats I've been dishing out using Sword Archon + 5 Sacred Watcher + Aasimar Favored Soul + Warforged Scout?
The Sacred Watchers would move easily through the trees and gain +4 AC which would make them even HARDER to kill. The Sword Archon would bump to 26 AC in the trees. That's pretty splendorific.
Of course the big drawback is that the Sacred Watchers would be +12 to-hit max on their own, or +14 with flanking. (+1 from bless and potentially +1 from Magic Weapon if you can get it off.)
This seems like pretty obvious non-secret tech to me, though...
I think the big thing we are learning from this thread is how SWEET King's Road is as a map option! | | Champion of the Cleric with Raise Dead

| So I went to bed last night worried about the horrors I'd unleashed on the community. This morning, I see what devastation my post has wrought.
I really like some of the guesses.
Archmage--not NOSTy enough Flying Dromite--um, no Xill, Wood Woad, etc.--NOSTy perhaps, but no
Once I reveal it, I'll get all sorts of posts about how it's not going to work, about how bands X, Y and Z will take it out lickety split, etc., etc.
But, Benimoto, Millygoat and a host of others will be at the qualifier and it would just be wrong of me to post it before then.

Multiple Helmed Horrors, huh? That's pretty good, but I'd hardly called that tier-1 material! They don't deal magic damage and their damage output is a only 15 per attack. Not to mention the fact that part of their damage is fire, so fire resists REALLY nerf their damage output.

| I want to play!
First, what do we know:
- Kings Road - "Mopped up" and "Kicked butt" on the Rak/HH/Chraal band - Not...well, its not alot of things...read the previous threads you lazy bissterds
I think the key is number 2...Dave said that this band not only beat his band, but basically trounced him. I'm guessing it didn't merely squeak by on tile points, but was nasty enough to kill at least 3 of the big 4 in Daves band, including dropping at least 1 HH.
So, Dave the Younger's NOST is:
Aspect of Orcus!
What, you say? Well, here's how I see it working out. He uses other fast CE beaters as the vanguard to get on the DMM as quickly as possible, and takes her down before she can use her compliment of Magic Weapons. Hopefully this happens early in the second round so that only 1 of Dave's beaters is buffed. Now, the non-buffed beaters have to hit an AC 25 (in the woods), and only do 5 damage per hit(the buffed do 10 per swing). Orcus keeps moving, limiting the damage, until he can roll up on the Rak. He then drops the Death Blow on the Rak (who fails his save in 2 straight games), and the Chraal goes poof. | | Rhane "The focus is sharp in the city..." Have/Want List Reference thread Avatar Thread

| My go, it must be multiple dwarf artificers and coautl with a member with dr. Think about it. Multiple artifitcers rust the horrors, coautl provides elimental resistant, dr provieds no damage taken ( possibilities are sword archon, JA, or just warfoged bodygaurds on mass. Or could be a valenarr and IM band with multiple HEBI.

I would have love too. But we all know the GD is little more than a tech tile grabber. | OK, I got it, it's Warforged Bodyguards with at least a big beater or 2 (Sword Archon makes a decent beater and commander with a good CFX for the WFBGs)) and a band of Combat Medics and/or other healers perpetually healing the WFBGs who are taking the hits for the beaters.
