| Well we are having our discussion about under-rated minis what about the opposite. Any feelings on most over-rated mini. Based on skirmish value not on its monetary value.
Not sure where I fall yet. I'm leaning toward Shuluth. So many proclaim the piece's greatness yet I have not seen the results. | | Champion of Cyclops

| Easy.... HGB.... AC 17 on a piece that screams "KILL ME!!!!" 155 hp (150 after first turn) is not enough to keep it alive against other T1 bands.
Pop quiz.... What warband can kill a single HGB without taking an attack in return?

And HGB's aren't outsiders so there goes that option....

| There are multiple options for your pop quiz, depending on how the dice fall. Beholders of course can auto-kill if you get lucky. Dual steel predators rout one off most boards if it fails all three saves. Even GAZE ALL DAY can pull it off, in theory, with the gaze attack. As might a Ghaele.
As for most overrated piece, I'm starting to lean toward the helmed horror. Not because they aren't strong pieces, but so many people are so obsessed with how good they're supposed to be.

As for the most over rated, still gotta go with the HGB.

| | I'm going to say Helmed Horror, Marut and Wardrummer. All three have significant liabilities, and while powerful pieces, aren't as impossible to beat as some people make them out to be. | | | |

| | Some of the minis being listed seem pretty good. For over-rated, I'll go with the Helmed Horror. What once was a feared mini, is now very manageable. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| Ahem, the answer to pop quiz is the Death Slaad, with his trusty friends the Trog and the Cursed Spirit close at hand.
Most overrated? I'd say the Steelheart Archer. Don't get me wrong, it's a *fantastic* archer unit, but the crux of the matter is that archery still sucks, badly, in DDM.

| | Most overrated = Marut or Helmed Horror. Both are solid pieces, but neither quite live up to the hype. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Champion of Dwarven Thunderlashers Knight of the Large Dire Chicken Have/Want List Trade References | |

| Drizzt. He is selling for $120 on eBay, I mean seriously wtf. I'm going to sell mine just because.
Don't get me wrong, Drizzt is great. He is a tank plain and simple, and his epic stats could make him even better. He isn't tier 1, and even with some of the great uniques, and the potential for new ones, I'm not sure that he could become tier 1.
The absolute best minis from older, discontinued sets are no where near that. An orc champ is 40 bucks. | | No matter HOW sure I am, never bet the Fett man.

| | I'm on the HH bandwagon (me2 me2 me2). With so much traffic made up of Marut/Coualt/Aramils, HH's are down to 5 or 0 damage per hit. What's challenging about that? | | A journey of 1,000 miles starts with a good whooping. | |

| Someone else made a joke about it, but I will say it for real regardless of the flak I may get: Wardrummer.
I'm sorry, I havn't seen him save anyone's butt yet; he either gets assassinated or the squad is just crushed regardless of his abilities. Don't get me wrong, he's a great utility for CE, but I just think he is WAY overrated and I'm tired of hearing about him. | | "I am created Shiva, the Destroyer; Death, the Shatterer of Worlds." - the Bhagavad-gita

| Heh.
I'd say Kobold miner, but likely wouldn't score any points for it. He can work, but only in numbers as part of a high act band.

| Hmmm...no votes for the Dwarf Artificer, huh?

| | My experiance with the HGB is limited but I would have to say he was not the monster I was expecting. Yes he hits hard as heck but with ac17 and 150 hp he can be taken down buy most beaters in a round(assuming full attacks) | | Asystole is a stable heart rhythm | |

I'm sticking with my original vote of Gauth, but I have to agree with this one.

| My picks (by faction) are:
LG: Cleric of Dol Arrah
He has some nice abilities, and commander 7 is nice, but meh. Cleric of Order has supplanted him entirely in the current meta.
LE: Helmed Horror
Waaay to easy to nerf in the current meta.
CG: Greenfang Druid
Another nice piece that just doesn't do anything in the tournament scene. You show me a truly competitive CG band built around the GFD, and I'll gladly change my answer, but until then ...
CE: Orc Warrior
A magnificent piece, no doubt. The best fodder piece in the game, for sure. So why is he overrated? Because, he's a fodder piece!! | | Champion of the Elf Duskblade
