Well now that we have the list and the pictures - cast your vote as to what piece you think will have the best skirmish stats. Vote for three.

Here are my votes:

1.Storm Archer
2.Tordek, Dwarf Champion
3.Spellscale Sorcerer Goliath Cleric of Kavaki

Actually I change my mind. I think the Goliath Cleric will be a bit better than the Sorcerer.

Here's what I think:

1. Tordek, Dwarf Champion (new ~60 point beater for LG)
2. Goliath Cleric of Kavaki (CG spellcaster/beater. Possibly a commander?)
3. Large Green Dragon (LGDx3 could be hard to beat)

1. Slaughterstone Eviscerator
2. Storm Archer
3. War Weaver

The tough part will be the magic users....their value always depend on the mix of spells that they are given....

#4 on my list would've been the Storm Archer: 33 points (I think that's what the preview said...?) for two 15-damage ranged attacks is pretty nice. I just hope it has good AC and HP.

I really think that if they stick to the spirit of the War Weaver class, then this guy will have a huge amount of Legion's spells, or some other way to get those off....Legion's Bulls Strength? Legions Magic Weapon? The possibilities are HUGE.....

Sorry, only familiar with 200pt play.

1. Hobgoblin Talon of Tiamat; should be the next wardrummer.
2. War Weaver; spell caster in with LG tanks, very dangerous, depends heavily on reportoire.
3. Blackguard on Nightmare; commander, flying mounted melee attack with Chraals, very deadly.

1. Large Fang Dragon
2. Blackguard on Nightmare
3. Large Green Dragon
(4. Redspawn Firebelcher)

They're all far from a sure thing, but I think these are among the ones with the highest potential.

My previous assertions were for 200 point play... if we're talking about 500, I'd have to give some serious consideration to the Tundra Scout... with Trample, Pushback, and AirStrike, he could be a fascinating figure to use, especially if you can squeeze in 2

The Goliath Cleric will be good
Tordek might do very well
Lets watch out for the SpellScale it could be awesome.
Large Green Dragon could depend on its points and wacky ability.

Well, it all comes down to points and funky abilities. Maybe the Tavern Brawler gets a save against any damaging attack (bobbing and weaving) that we can't predict ... but, let's talk gut.

The War Weaver has the right stuff. Heroes of Battle, mess of ally-affecting spells. Beyond the basic stuff, the ability to auto-cast some things at start of combat could be HUGE.

Large Green ... well, if they've got the dragons back on track he could be as well.

I'm holding out for a good druid commander. Wardens of the Wood (initiate feat / druids) get Displacement as a 3rd level spell, +2 AC in forest/woods. If it is the Eldeen Ranger route, it would be more of a direct fighter since it would have Ranger + fighter BAB ... it would then have favored enemie(s) (faster accumulation than straight rangers) and improved critical. Something tells me it's a druid though.

Witchknife could combo well w/ the Inspired Lt ... wonder if it has class levels ...

Well, for sure the Large Green Dragon will have a chance at making some sort of an impact. I hope that some of the CG stuff can fight as well; I'm thinkin' Storm Archer and Goliath Cleric here.

LGD isn't that strong, folks. It has uses, but it isn't a lock.

As for my predicitons for major skirmish pieces:

Yuan-ti halfblood sorcerer. If it has some good utility spells, it could be a major piece...

Redspawn firebelcher. That thing should be a tank with multiple fire cones/blasts (a guess).

Cadaver collector. High hps, high AC, construct, DR, immune to magic, paralyzing cone, cleave, attack for ~25 to 30 damage. This could be a very interesting piece... especially if they manage to implement that impale ability. It will likely have 'requires commander', but I can live with that...

1) Large Fang Dragon---It's expected to be a skirmash tank due to dragons finally getting whipped into gear and since this thing does damage of dragons a whole category older than itself, the translated skirmish stats should be comparitively impressive except for the fly speed. It'll probably keep my Wyvern company. Oh my goodness! I thought of something terrible. Let's just say I really hope the Wyvern's nature isn't copied. Yeah you guessed right. It's Incited. I can forgive the Wyvern due to it being a beloved creature in RPG and we will always love it no matter how mutilated it becomes by the WotC staff and I don't even know what a Kruthik is, let alone a hatchling so I don't care but if my Fang Dragon is plagued with this ability as well I will be very disappointed in you, WotC. Not mad, just very disappointed....................[:p]

2)Aspect of Tiamat---Nothing needs to be said, really.

3) Mountain Troll---It's apparently the new and improved (by approximately 1 and 1/2) Fomorian so if you double pull these at the pre-release you can probably use the Huge Fiendish Spider promo as well and maybe also a few choice fillers to round it all out.[:D]

Tavern Brawler.

Why, you ask? Orc Wardrummer was the major player from War Drums. Oddball, non-combatant piece. Tavern Brawler is the oddball, non-combatant piece from DQ. Hmmm.....

Alternately, the Stirge. If it costs 5 points and has blood drain (reduces target creature's maximum HP rather than just dealing damage) it'll be a tiny, flying terror.

Other pieces of possible note: Meepo. He has to do something spiffy, otherwise he'd be 3 point fodder in LE not a rare in LG....

Since there isn't much info apparently forthcoming from the Vesivus leak, that's all my speculation for now (might swift dimension doors on a piece that will likely have 250 hp be game breaking?).

I put my money on this. LE is gonna get a proper titan. This fella is not gonna miss much and his damage output is scary. His cost is kinda high but manageble. It's a construct that's a mage's worst nightmare.

golaith cleric- hopefully a potent caster/beater for CG
Meepo- he's going to have some kind of gamebending special ability related to his "dragonlord" title
Tordek- he'll be the perfect compliment to the AoM in LG bands.

I dunno, the 2-1 hp/cost ration mentioned for the LGD, along with a nice acid cone and all the assorted goodies sounded fairly nice for LE. If he's got the "same" stats as a LCD or LBD and comes in at 15 pts less, he could be a beast

1. Slaughterstone eviscerator
2. Ogre skirmisher. Come on, it can attack for 30 and move away, all at melee reach 2 (i assume)
3. Griffon rider. mounted drow patrol was quite good, and that didnt even fly permanently.

1. Dragon Totem Hero
-Wait, what? It isnt even a WotDQ piece. But the warband building... Thats right, all those great new Dragons will be CG's new best friend. Dual LGD + Rikka, those new small Dragons, the Large Fang Dragon, etc, etc. The possibilities are great. This set will redeem CG.

2. Griffon Cavalry
-Mark my words, its the 40-point CG beater we all want. Possible Ride-by-attack + flying is very CG-styled.

3. Wizened Elder
-Its a CR 2 medium creature in the RPG, but its a rare in Skirmish. My guess is that is has a Wardrummer-stuled tech ability on it, and guess what? CG as well. [)]

I'll play along. I'm voting for pieces we've seen described, though they probably won't make the actual best skirmish piece list once we know the stats.

1) Blackguard on Nightmare
2) Large Green Dragon
3) Bonded Fire Summoner
Runner-up: Ogre Skirmisher

What I really hope is the huge creatures will not be so useless than the giants of legends. The only one which I have seen being played in true tier 1 warbands is the fomorian (and storm and nightwalker a little bit).I hope the new huges will be awesome powerful and unbeatable and worth for their huge cost. But I doubt It.

I have a good feeling about the Talon of Tiamat. I hope the Blackguard on Nightmare is really strong in skirmish, but I expect it to be overcosted.

The Storm Archer sounds ok, but I know from experience that depending on elemental damage is not good.

I won't be surprised if Tordek is actually strong in skirmish. MARMALAAAADE!

I agree that the War Weaver is one to watch. The PRC sounds really strong and good for translation. All those mass buffs could be pretty efficient. If she can cast a useful spell every round of an 8 round game, all while tucked safely behind a line of LG tanks, this mini could be key.

Other possibilities:

Warden of the Wood
Purple Worm
Cadaver Collector
DBPL
Ogre Skirmisher
Tundra Scout

Meepo is going to have some kind of synergy with dragons, maybe warband building or wyrmling minions

Tordek will finally make dwarf themed bands viable and will elevate the battleplate marshall and AoM

bluespawn godslayer will own epic play as he will eat aspects, maruts, and dragons for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. everyone will cry out at the power of the blue barney and eventually a godslayerslayer gnome champion of Garl Glittergold will be created as a response.[^]

Tordak is going to see a lot of 200 pt play I think...especially with Drizzit and that still leaves you 50ish over points to round up your warband.

I don't really think any unique or dragon will be there. I can't route for the Ogre Skirmisher, because it looks too much like Jar Jar Binks. I would think more in lines of:

1) Blackguard on Nightmare
2) Meepo
3) Tavern Brawler
