| So it looks like I am going to be playing in the Qualifier on Saturday after all (pending some last minute oppossition from any of the local community.) However, I am not quite sure what warband to bring. I am kind of bored with playing marut builds, so that is pretty much out, and I would prefer to run something tactically interesting but at the same time having a good chance of winning. I don't want to throw away my DCI rating, after all.
So, I would like to hear suggestions for a warband that I should bring Saturday.
If I don't find any suggestions I like then, I am going to just run Archmage or Dragonnes. [:P] | | I am not gone.

| Well, this band did well for me and you need to be very tactful how you use it.
2 x Aspect of Kord 1 x Inspiring Martial 1 x Crow Shaman 1 X timber Wolf 1 X Elf Warrior 2 X Xeph
GMA with the Kords allows for some interesting moves. You can base Couatls/ Balistas very easy, you can hit and run mutli beater bands to equalize the engagment round. This band performs very well against Couatl+ Titan builds. The harder matchups are 4+ Beaters but the hit and run tactics can equalize those.
Map: Dragonshrine, has plenty of open area to use the Kords speed to your advantage and makes it easy to back door your opponent. Also, the obvious resistances and the magic circles. | | "Like a thief in the Night"

That IS pretty interesting. I will keep it under consideration (and try to figure out how to get ahold of a second Aspect of Lolth if I do play it.) | | I am not gone.

I would play that, but I've already played a very similar warband (subbing out the Elf Warrior and the Inspiring Marshal for the Xeph Warrior.) While, I won the tournament that I played the warband with I wasn't quite comfortable with how it run. Still, its an option. | | I am not gone.

I am already expecting multiple people to bring SWarm to our qualifier (its pretty popular here.) So I would rather be different. [:)] | | I am not gone.

| Archmage 98 Cleric of Kord 32 Graycloak Ranger 15 Half-Ogre Barbarian x2 50 Xeph Warrior 3 Wolf 0
198 pts.
Run it on Kings Road of course :).
Alternately you could try:
Greenfang Druid 50 Dire Bear 44 Cleric of Kord 32 Spirit Folk Fighter x3 57 Graycloak Ranger 15 Timber Wolf 0
198 points.
No one will see the last one coming. Not even anyone who reads this thread!

| Serious suggestion: Greenfang Druid + 1 Frenzied Berserker, expand as you see fit. It's a very enjoyable core though you might hit a few snags against certain high-AC bands, I suppose.
Fun suggestion: Inspiring Herd. 1 Inspiring Marshal, 5 Celestial Pegasi, Devis, Timber Wolf, on Dungeon of Blood or any other similarly open map. | | - Irrationally Fanatical Champion of Pegasus-mounted cavalry - Proud member of Team Low Tier Beasting: I play CG as my main faction! - Garland, TX 2006 Qualifier Champion My trading thread: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19725

Honestly, my primary concerns with it are over dealing with the threat of single chraal + 3 hitters LE quad bands (breath weapons are no fun) and Arcane Ballistas (giant arrows to the head are no fun.) | | I am not gone.

| If you believe that LG is gonna be out in force go with:
Dual Death Slaad Blue Slaad Tiefling Captain Orc Warrior Orc Warddrummer
Nice thing is, the Couatl can't do anything to decrease the Chaos Hammer damage, nor can a bodyguard soak up that damage because it is not an attack. | | Daniel the Neon Knight

| Dual wartroll!
Or run a Drizzt warband! Two qualifing warband with drizzt? - that would rock.
Or single wartroll + Rak/zakrak on drow outpost... | | It would be very unlikely for unlikely events not to occur. - J. A. Paulos "Innumeracy"

| One band I really thought would do better...it just needs one good push to make it famous (created by Dave Campeau, so give him credit if you win with it):
25 Cleric of Corellon Larethian 53 Wemic Barbarian 53 Wemic Barbarian 26 Crow Shaman 26 Crow Shaman 06 Devis 06 Mialee 05 Timber Wolf
First turn, Mialee, Cleric and Crows put MW and Cat's Grace on both Wemics, addressing their biggest issues right away. Add Bless and they hit at +18/+13 (25 magic)...and soon as one enemy routs, they become nigh-unstoppable beasts who can dish out 150 magic damage a round (4 attacks + 2 Snake's Swiftnesses).
On top of that, you've got two Chastise Spirits which can devastate a SWarm, four sources of Healing, and Devis for Countersong... | | Champion of Iconics & the Apparatus of Kwalish (Constructs with Drivers? Brilliant!) Dungeons of Dread Called Shot: Yeah, right

| | The problem with that is that without forcing a route on your opponent you are stuck with a warband that is going to run away very, very easily. Especially considering the number of Sacred Watchers I expect to see at the tournament. Nothing to route in an all fearless warband. Also Chastise Spirits is hardly devestating to SWarms, considering that incorporeal can block it. Finally, another player I know is bringing something similar to that, so I don't want to copy him. ;) | | I am not gone. | |
