| This is an interesting question. Forgive me though if it's been asked before.
What would you chose as a good CG Beastlord Commander
First is Greenfang Druid, he has legions magic fang, regen, and some Direct Damage. Along with a Beast Master 20, His commander effect allows crits on a 19 or 20 and he can pull magic beasts or animals from CE.
Second is Lion of Talsid, He has Flamestrike and Cat's Grace to give an extra +2 AC. He adds pluses with his commander ability. Only downside is his Beast Master skill is only a 7 not enough for a ever popular Dire Bears.
Third is the Warden of The Wood, she has Beastmaster 8 which allows her to keep those pesky bears in check. She also gives Animals Fearless which is a big plus and Plants imune to fire. You can also have any plants and animals in your warband.
My choice goes like this
Greenfang for his 19 and 20 crit ability and the fact you can have CE Magic Beasts and Animals.
Warden for her fearless to Animal ability
Lion for his spells and his commander effect.
What's your choice and why? | | What does this button do?

| Same order as you Rick001. While regen on Dire Bears is nice, what can really kill them is the lack of magic damage against creatures with the DR - and this is where Legions Magic Fang really rocks. Plus, the GFD himself is no slouch in the fighting department.
To be sure, the Lion of Useless is at the bottom of the trio. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| Pretty much same order too. I like greenfang, though that fearless from Warden is nice. Plus many of the animals and beasts you can bring in are nice.
Then there's the lLon, followed by Vadania, Half-Elf Druid at the bottom of the pile. | | "Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don't look like mutton again tomorrer." | | warden of the wood brings the most to the table i feel with her better selection of spells, although i am always a huge fan of the GFD for fun games. i'd rather slice off my left thumb than build something with the lion of talsid. vadania is head and shoulders above that POS. | | -Doranur

| This biggest problem with the Lion of Talisid is that he MUST be paired up with one of the other commanders in order to beef up a dire bear. But then you've got two commanders at ~50 points each and 88 points worth for two bears... doesn't leave you much to work with.
I guess an option could be:
Warden of the Wood Lion of Talisid Dire Bear Spellscale Sorcerer Hunting Cougar Hunting Cougar Mialee Hyena
That way you can have a bear hitting at +20/+14 for 20 magic with 105 fearless hit points and blurred. If you get your map (I'd suggest Keep of the Fallen Kings) then he's great at blocking the central area while you grab tile points and hurl spells - there's even the potential for two first turn flame strikes.
That being said, I think I'd prefer something with only one commander and therefore go with the WoW by herself:
Warden of the Wood Dire Bear Dire Bear Wizened Elder Watcher Graycloak Timber Wolf (minion) Aramil Hyena
The Wizened Elder Watcher is actually a fairly interesting piece and quite resilient with the WoW. I think the big trick is use the thorny grasp ability on creatures that have already been based by the dire bear(s). That way, they either take an auto 5 damage per round or (if they pass the save) provoke AoO from the bear(s).
One of my favourites since Wardrums has been:
Greenfang Druid Chimera Dire Bear Dire Bear Devis Xeph Warrior Xeph Warrior
It has a little more hitting power, and some nice abilities from the Chimera, but I've found that the bears just run a little too often for my liking. | | A Proud Gelatinous Dude

| | I think the only choice is between the GFD and the Warden. Either would be good. I happen to prefer the GFD, but that might change. | | | |
