| I am trying to configure a good build for epic, and wondering waht the consesus for Tiamat's fodder/tech is?
At 352 points, there is little room for other "big" pieces, so what should be run? More dragons? Is the Large Red worth running?

| I played on a local tourney Tiamat Mindflayer(nice combo with -9 morale) Greenspawn Razorfiend Zakya Darkmoon Monk filler
I came second, but there was only one other dragon aspect(Tiamat, the battle was purely chance driven, he had Large Green Dragon and Zakya and filler). Combo with mindflayer works nicely.

| | Tiamat it nice, but in our recent epic tournament, the guy that ran him fell to a Aspect of Maradin/Justicator/Arcane Balista band. Whenever I play her in friendly play, I feel too vulnerable and I come close to losing her. | | CS | |

| | I think the idea of a Beholder is a reasonable idea. It'll allow you to push the Aspect around and maybe net a few extra attacks. I, personally, would probably avoid using too many dragons. The commander effect is nice, but with the few points you have left, you need to get whatever threats you can, and dragons tend to be expensive, and have lowish attack bonuses( remember, AC 32s out there!). If you're diehard on dragons, the Large blue's attack bonus will at least allow you to hit some epic ACs. I also think a helmed horror would probably be a good choice, just in case other beholders are out there. Of course standard LE beaters, like the doogie or ZakRak are pretty useful, and the thayan knight is actually pretty useful in case of Arcane Ballistas or Storm Giants. | | **Note: Unless otherwise stated all my minis are unbagged** My reference thread is at: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12765 Graduate school is swollowing my soul!!!! | I've been using Iron Golem (61 pt version) with Tiamat. (And giggling like a little girl when my opponent realizes that taking out it's commander is NOT a sound strategy). I also like throwing in a greenspawn razorfang to help tiamat target her 2 acid breath weapons if needed. (or the small black dragon can accomplish the same thing if you're tighter on points) Diseased dire rats also help prevent your opponent from trying to out victory-area you, which is otherwise a good idea vs. Tiamat on certain maps.

| personally see tiamat as casual play or sealed. her ac is low, and only a 19 attack bonus with 32ac out there can be rough. and she's sooooo slooooow.
but to use her in fun looks like Tiamat bluespawn andkobold miner just for entertainment value.
only having 148 points after fielding her is rough, but if you want, possibly zak rak and/or duerger champs. the mindflayer does look good though. kudos to whoever used that. :)

It can fly up to 16 squares every round, which is pretty darn good, especially when she can also choose to fly 8 and still either attack three times or unleash two breath weapons. You've got to remember that with Dual Activation the "printed" speed has to be halved. And I'm also thinking that the Beholder is a really good option, especially when it forces a morale save on somebody adjacent to the Aspect with her Aura of Fear. | | "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. | I liked capitalizing on dragons with Tiamat. I ran Tiamat, Large Green Dragon, Green Dragon, Fire Belcher, 2 Small Black Dragons and 2 fodder. The Small Black dragons can be used for victory points and to kill other fodder as well as grant Tiamat flanking when needed. The Green Dragon goes out first to get victory points early. I use the line breaths to beat down fodder while always striking main targets, even 5 damage is often worth it. Tiamat can engage and strike at +23 or just sit back and fire her breath weapons. I've targeted the green and black dragons with acid lines when sometimes you just can't target enemies. Unfortunately it has lost twice to the Aspect of Giant Chicken, when it flew away to safety with 10 hitpoints remaining. | | "You are not the sum of your miniatures."

| When I sat down to build a tiamat band the first thing that leapt out at me was the fact that +19 to hit in epic isn't all that good. Granted she's got six attacks, but at 352 points, you need as many of her attacks as possible to hit, you can't really wait to have the number of attack rolls balance things out. So to boost tiamat's to hit, I threw in a Large Green Dragon. But the large green dragon wasn't enough all by itself so I added in a helmed horror to serve as a secondary flanker as well as a beholder shield. With the helmed horror I wanted a magic weapon for him, so I added in the Dark Moon Monk who could also magic weapon tiamat whose attacks went up to +24 six times as long as something was flanking. I then added in a green dragon tile grabber/fodder killer. I then added 3 kobold miners to help with victory points, round out activations, and not give my opponents any unnecessary points.

| Have you tried that band out Richard II? It actually looks like a pretty good Tiamat build. I may have to play around with it some to see how well that does. | | Champion of the Aspect of Damage

| I did play it at a tournament the Saturday after WotDQ was released. I went 3-0 beating some band I don't remember, a dual epic slaughterstone eviscerator band, and a dual cadaver collecter/beholder/Bluespawn Godslayer band.
There's likely a tournament report in the tournament forum if you want more details.
I found that I was much more likely to get into melee with tiamat than to lumber around at speed 4 using breath weapons.

| I ran this in a couple of games today: Aspect of Tiamat Beholder Med. Green Dragon Diseased Dire Rat x2 Kobold Miner x3 In game one, I played against a Huge Red Dragon.
That was over so quick it wasnt even funny. Save 10 is not nice against Stone to Flesh, Fear, Slow or a Cold breath weapon.
Second game was equally fast, but only in the other direction. Turns out its really hard to hit a buffed Epic Tordek, who keeps attacking you with the help of a Couat and a War Weaver. That match was a murder. | | Champion of the Sarrukh

| Here is a fun band idea for the Aspect. Aspect of Tiamat(352) + 4 Zombie White Dragons=500 pts The zombies become +20 melee for 15 magic damage, use them to screen in Tiamat, and hopefully with all those high HP fodder Tiamat can get all of her breath weapons off, before she must engage in melee herself. | | Agent of Amish | |

It might be fun, but it's not technically legal. The Zombie White Dragon isn't technically a dragon, it's an undead, so tiamat can't bring it into LE via her warband building.

| I placed second this weekend with this build: Tiamat Beholder Greenspawn Razorfiend Diseased Dire Rat Kobold Miner x2 Beat a Giant Band first round. The Mountain Troll couldn't hit Mama enough, and the poison sting eliminated the regeneration. The Beholder turned a HG Barbar to stone to save the Rat. The Greenspawn scored a key crit on the Troll, and basically I only lost the kobolds and the rat. Second round I faced an Elminster CG caster band. With help from the Beholder's TK, Tiamat was able to base Elminster and the Archmage in the second round. Bye-bye Archmage, bye-bye mobility. Mama chased Elminster, who couldn't get a spell off because of some rotten luck on Spell Resistance rolls. The Razorfiend kept the Elementals summoned by the Bonded Fire Summoner busy, and the opponent conceded after the tenth failed SR roll. Third round I faced Bahamut + Elminster + Guen + Warpriest of Moradin. Mama and Papa went toe-to-toe and thanks to Papa's higher AC and the dice deserting me, Papa won. Bahamut was at 10 points, however, when the smoke cleared. Beholder zaps Bahamut with Cause Wounds, Jim is very happy. Elminster casts Close Wounds, courtesy of the Warpriest. Jim not happy. Bahamut routs Beholder. Argh. So... close... Mama + Beholder is a nice combo. | I've started using the Large Green Dragon with the AoT, and it is really useful in getting that attack bonus up with flanking. I still can't get rid of my beholder, however.
