| I've only done one skirmish with the new figures so I'm not sure yet which figures really work well.
So from the experience of those who've played a bit what figures are looking good. From a skirmish point of view. Both epic and more importantly 200point play.
From my limited experience I found the bonded summoner and huge elementals fun to play in the match I played then in but then that was all I had at the time. I also thought the clawfoot rider seemed effective if expensive. | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

| | I think that depends on who do you ask. In my mind the only good pieces are: Tordek, War Waever, Spellscale Sorceror, Warden of the Wood, Green Dragon and Large Fang Dragon in 200. | | My Haves and wants: http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Janos_M.

| It really does depend whom you ask. For instance I think the Large Fang Dragon sucks for it's base attack. I'm not touching epic.
HOT: Aasimar Fighter - Good fodder Cleric of Syreth - Excellent, but expensive Eviscerator - Nasty, well priced Large Green Dragon Ogre Skirmisher Tordek - Nasty. Small Copper Dragon - good tile grabber, support
WARM (has potential): Blackguard Cadaver Collector Cloud Reaver Diseased Dire Rat Golden Protector Griffon Cavalry Redspawn Firebelcher Spellscale Storm Archer Warden of the Wood War Weaver

| How well does a figure need to work to be skirmish viable?
I haven't the chance to play with many of the pieces yet but have found the following to work for me: Small fire elemental - ranged takes it out but that's true of most fodder. Eviscerator- but limited by the need of a dwarf commander Warweaver - multiple magic weapons at once. Diseased Dire Rats - not so much for 200 but in 500 stop one round of victory points and he has paid for himself.
The Nots Whitespawn Hordeling - play multiple and lose activations Meepo - sure he stops cones just not lines

| From what I've seen at local tournaments:
HOT Aspect of Bahamut EPIC Slaughterstone Eviscerator Tordek, Dwarf Champion (both versions) War Weaver Spellscale Sorcerer EPIC Blackguard on Nightmare Bluespawn Godslayer Greenspawn Razorfiend Tundra Scout
NOT Goliath Cleric of Crap (stupid stupid STUPID! [:(!]) Wizened Elder Watcher Meepo Dragonborn Fighter
Did I mention that I hate the Goliath Cleric? | | Check out my DDM Blog: http://scifirules.livejournal.com "I will pay my dues when you send me my tusks!" -Strong Bad Champion of Chainmail Equivalencies | Knight of Efficient Fodder WotDQ Called Shot: Large Green Dragon (VINDICATED) | Blood War Called Shot: Large Brass Dragon | Unhallowed Called Shot: Skeletal Troll

Really, they're all skirmish viable. To be tourney viable, they essentially need to deal with the current metagame in your area (or at GenCon). The piece must be able to synergize with your warband so that you can reasonably handle any matchup you face from; Couatl + Titan, Swarm, 4 Orc Champs, 2 Archmages, or LE quad. It is possible to have a warband that sucks vs a few bad matchups be tourney viable, because those bad matchups are likely to never show up.
4 Helmed Horrors are still considered to be a deadly force. But they are easily nerfed by Tiamat's Temple or the Couatl which sees lots of play. Tier 1? Guess not. Not til the metagame changes. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | i like the dire rat (in pairs if possible) even in 200. I think there is value there and played correctly you can be eliminating their fodder while you get Tile points and assume an activation advantage.
quote: Eviscerator - Nasty, well priced
Im glad Im not hte only one that sees that. Its not gonna be my first choice of a piece to build around.. but thats alot of hit points and reasonable damage for something I thought was just gonna be filler in my sealed events | | Minis... | i've found double godslayer can be playable. even one is usefull if you don't want to invest that many points.
am also looking at double epic slaughterstone, just not sure what to fill it with.
fang dragon has possibilites if just given an attack boost. his point cost per hp/possible damage is just too efficient to overlook completely. | | | |

| | I think it's interesting that no one put the firebelcher in the hot catagory. Given the results at Gen Con, I would guess that opinion will have to be changed. As for my thoughts, I think the large green is good, war weaver has a nitche, meepo is good in 500 for blocking breath. I thought the diseased rats played really well with the warden. | | "Call no man happy til he is dead" -E Cobham Brewer | |

| I only play CE, so I am a little biased with who I like and who I dont in DQ. The Firebelchers auto damage is pretty handy at times, I like the Fang Dragon a lot, especially when you run it with Cursed Spirits or Trog Thugs to up its stats and I havnt minded playing with the Gnoll Archer either. Its nice to at the very least have a ranged threat in a CE band, even if it is only for 10 and 10. From what Ive played against, Tordek has been the biggest dissapointment so far as Ive played against him 4 times and whipped his candy ass everytime (back to back 19 and 20 while on bloodrock with a HGB sure makes a mess of the little guy). I know now that Ive bagged out Tordek, that my next half dozen games against him will be painfull ..... damn you karma, damn you. The Cadaver Collector has been a little disappointing too, but I think that is more the fact that he hasnt been played well rather than him being the new gay icon of D&D Miniatures. | | 'nuff said, AC | |

| For what my opinion is worth(bugger all if you ask my wife) Non Epic
HOT
Firebelcher...... auto damage is always a good thing)
Storm archer... Better than the Hebi in almost evry way and cheaper to boot,, scoot and shoot for 15 damage very nice.
Fang Dragon.....Great Hp for the cost, good speed and fly, Low to hit but good damage
Spellscale ..... More of a metagame shift than anything else, More for the threat that you might have to face one than actually playing him. He surely makes you think twice about throwing that spellcaster in . I am quite possibly wrong on this one though I remember reading the same about the wizard tactician as a spoiler piece
Tordek ..... This guy is solid but I don't think he has found the right band yet, but mark my words it will come . I think the iggest mistake people are making is using him as a titan He does require back up hitters.
Small Black Dragon.... for those of you who haven't given him a run yet he is one of the most versatile pieces at his cost I've seen .. Tile grabber, fodder hunter ,providing flank and putting that extra bit of hurt on a hitter,.
Aasimir fighter.... For his cost an excellent piece and a nice piece for the warweaver to bulls strength to boot
Cleric of Syreth.... Good commander rating, reasonable HP, OK commander effect but the clincher for me is the ranged attack with a good to hit he can be doing something on every round(one of my Golden rules a piee should contribute every round or sub him out)
Slaughterstone eviserator.... havent used him haven't played against him can't really omment but i like what I see
WARM
War weaver.... almost there he just runs out of stuff to do to early but in the right and can be a deciding factor
Bonded Fire summoner....Having six fire elementals running around with speed 12 is awesome. really upsets certain bands I have played with him a fair bit his downfall is his vulnerability to flyers
Tavern Brawler ... Is really a great blocker charging is easy as and he just looks so damn funny well worth his cost (don't laugh )
Warden of the Wood ... Suffers from the same problem as the summoner is very vulnerable to enemy flyers once based doesn't live long
cadaver Collector.....I wish he didn't have the cone and was priced accordingly its just to tempting and leaves you vulnerable if it doesn't come off half your warband is standing around doing nothing for a round.
Blackguard on nightmare .... No where near as terrifying as its epic version.
Dread warriors .... These guys are actually really solid nothing special just reliable cheap hitters
Large Green dragon ..... Sorry ray of enfeeblement makes this guy cry
Witchknife...... his stuns are worth the price of admission IF THEY WORK
Demonic Gnoll Archer .... In the right band can be a real asset.
Stirge .... Kicked my but in one game I played warrants more thought
NOT everything else not saying they won't ever be but at this point none of them are game changing
