| Up until Blood War came out I firmly believe that if I pilot the GBD it cannot be defeated by any warband unless by some bizarre string of seriously bad rolls on the part of the dragon or good rolls from the opponent. I haven't tried it with the new stuff yet but I'm not sure if anything has changed much.
Whoever piloted the GBD and let it get killed didn't play it right in my opinion. It's not because I am a great player or anything like that, it's because the GBD is too strong. Any experienced player can destroy any 500pt warband piloting the GBD if he knows what he is doing.
The Crush is one of his best abilities, no conceal check needed and the DC 28 is failed way too often.
Epic Tordek, Epic Storm Archer, LSD, Kord or any other main offensive unit the opponent fields should be crushed by the GBD. If it is stunned it can't do anything. If the enemy brings a Moon Elf then that Moon Elf must die in round one. If the GBD pilots it corrctly he can get the enemy to facing morale checks while based and the aura of fear will decimate them. Especially if any commanders are gone first. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4 | |

| Do you think this could kill the beast?
497 9act.
Storm 57 Paladin 226 Kolyarut 45 Rikka 31 Meepo 31 Nebin 18 Combat Medic 28 Lyrandar Skyfire Captain 55 Bat Familiar 6
The idea is to use Meepo to control the breath weapons, buff the Paladin with Nebin and Captain, heal with Medic and fuss with Kolyarut.

| | Just read the post above yours.... I played against the G.Black dragon with 1000pts and still lost. He is way too strong. Meepo will last 1 activation then comes the breath weapons then the move and crush then the move back then the teleport(no free strikes). Then you get to do it all over again but this time unstunning your best guy which takes him out of the battle because the Dragon is now across the map, stuning your other guys. Have fun.... | | Champion of the Brainstealer Dragon Desert of Desolation Called Shot: Medium Brown Dragon ***Winner of WBC VIII and XII*** | |

| Your opponent played poorly if you were getting much milelage out of Snake's Swiftness. GBD's devastating offensive weapon is the crush ability which comes with the high DC stun. However, no one mentions its main defensive weapon, the measly Tail Slap, which has no save, is not a targeted ability (so you can use it on an invisible creature) and pushes nearby creatures away so that the GBD can go where it pleases. Â
Common scenarios with GBD are:Â
Titan bases dragon and attacks, GBD tail slaps to move titan away. If titan has help behind him, GBD flies to the help and bases the help with a move/claw for 30 damage yielding morale save at minus 5.
Dragon sees two nasty Storm Archers 20 squares away with a titan in between: Dragon uses move/crush to stun titan DC 28 and cause 45 damage. Dragon is at range 8, titan is stunned. Dragon uses move/claw on the nasty Storm Archer for 30 damage. Archer and his buddy have time to do 100 damage with four hits and crap their pants. Dragon uses move/claw for 30 damage(miss on 1) and cause morale save. Dragon hits for 45 with bite (miss on 1). Dragon tail slaps and claws for the kill on the archer. Next round the titan gets unstunned and the other archer dies doing 50 damage. Now the dragon can easily kill a titan with the crush, tail slap, bite, claw routine.Â
The weakest thing the dragon does is the tail sweep. The breath weapon should be reserved for support pieces. | | | |

| We often play a reserve bid with it, ie we all write down a number of points (ranging from 450 - 700 often) and the highest point total plays the dragon against a warband of that point value.
If it just one person facing dragon, often 650 pts wins (using bahamut typically), but against mutplie warbands 800 is more often needed.
We dont use epic Kolyarut though - as results in 50/50 wchance with one ability and thats not as much fun. | | "Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don't look like mutton again tomorrer."
