yes he is 1000 points but i thought you build a 750 point army to battle him..

He is big and bad, but not as bad as the black strangely (IMO)

I have yet to be Guyf'd. But I have been f'ed.

It should win most of its games in the suggested formats, but not at the rate the Gargantuan Black Dragon can win. For 500 points, the GBD on its map, is just devastating on a 500 pt warband.

Actually, I think the Colossal Red is nastier vs 1000 pt warband than the Gargantuan Black is vs a 500 pt warband. The colossal red has such a crazy ac that's it's tough for any attacks to hit, and the 100 pt cones combined with dc 30 stuns that also happen to do 50 damage are just vicioius.

Speaking of Gargantuan Black's reign of terror, has any found an interesting way to level the playing field?

Bid points in some way?
Warband's map choice?

GBD at 500 pts is definately a tougher battle than the CRD at 1000 pts.  I've done both only once, but I saw both run multiple times at GenCon and the GBD is a baddie.  IMO the GBD's map helps him out immensely.Â

CRD stats:

LEVEL 17

SPEED F7

AC 32

HP 800

MELEE ATTACK: Bite +28 (50 magic); or Claw +26 (40 magic)

Type: Colossal DragonÂ

Special Abilities:

Almighty Not affected by allies' spells.

Aura of Fear 10 Enemies in squares threatened by this creature gain Morale Save -10.

Breath WeaponÂReplaces attacks; cone; 100 fire damage; DC 30

Crush 50 Can move through a smaller enemy's space to deal 50 damage and Stun; DC 30.

Double Damage from Cold

DR 10 Takes 10 less damage from nonmagical melee and ranged attacks.

Fearless Automatically succeeds on morale saves and cannot be frightened.

Flight

Immune Fire Creature is not affected by Fire attacks.

Independent This creature is always under command and is capable of rallying itself as a commander does.

Indomitable If this creature is subject to any effect that would eliminate it but that does not deal damage, it is not destroyed but instead takes 100 damage.

Massive This creature can end its move in pits. It can move through and end its movement in walls as though in difficult terrain; it cannot see through walls. Enemies can attack this creature within a wall only if 1 full square of wall does not lie between it and the attacker.

Melee Reach 4

Not Subject to Commander Effects

RoarÂcone; affected creatures make a morale save

Spell Resistance May ignore spells unless the caster rolls 11 or higher.

Tail Slap 20 20 damage to 1 adjacent enemy. and push it 2 squares if or smaller.

Tail Sweep 30 Cone; 30 damage; DC 30

I have it but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'm thinking of playing a 3 player game with 500pnt warbands each.

Champion of Grape Juice. Its delicious.

We changed the bidding on the GarBlack.
So everyone writes down what point cost they think they can win against using the GarBlack. So everyone bids, eg 500, 530, 450. The person who bids the highest (eg 530) gets the Dragon, the other(s) get that amount of points to spend (eg 530).

Works pretty well. Now only about 2/3 battles are won by it And keeps the creatures in warbands a bit more varied.

We did have one interesting and what would of been a very very quick game if played out. Out of the three of us, the top bid was 10 pts. So we had 5 pts each to beat it :arruggh:
