| | How do you run it down on the maps like the grotto or the kings road?? The piece has a lot of potential even if it cost to much. The ability to smite and to breath fire is awesome. I think what does it for me is the mounted melee attack. Chasing the red dragon down is going to be hitting and running. That was the main problem with the kLRD. Now if the battle last too long it favors the Gith dragon. So is he good or is he great??? | | Need Miniatures Painted? E-mail me at jeremiahschmidt2002@hotmail.com | |

| | Don't you still get an attack of opportunity against Gith with mounted melee when he leaves threatened squares? | | Champion of Grape Juice. Its delicious. | |

| Yes, you can get an AoO from a GithKnight using mounted combat but only when it moves from the takeoff squares. Mounted Combat doesn't prevent the AoO but FLYING usually does.

| Exactly. With its speed and mobility, it can usually leave an unthreatened square, fly up to a piece, deliver an attack, and then fly back to another safe place. On a map with forest terrain, it can probably land in a place such that it can leave later and not be threatened even if it's based.

| | Yes, the Githyanki Dragon Knight was pretty harsh in our sealed tournament a couple of days ago - taking top spot. I suspect it'll have a tougher time in constructed events. If it goes last, then wins initiative, Couatl/Kord could rip this guy apart, plus they have the speed to chase it down. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| Ok so you take off with Gith unthreatened, hit the enemy and land in an unthreatened space = No attack of opportunity because he's flying?
If that's the case I'm down with CE again. Marilith was like rooting for the 49ers in the 80's. Big band wagon.Gith does get style points. | | Champion of Grape Juice. Its delicious.

That is correct. The Githyanki Dragon Knight is a powerful piece.

| WHOA!!!
I get it now since the Githyanki Dragon Knight is "in the air" while attacking it cannot be a target of a AOO. Man that is so suttle that I never even thought of it! I can't wait to "jump" the guys with that at the next toury!!

| The answer to your question is 'no, the Gith Dragon Knight isn't meta-changing'. It's a powerful piece, but it's half your warband. You can use Flight + Mounted Melee Attack to lay a 20-pt smack anywhere you want it; but for fewer points, you can do a very similar thing with the Hill Giant Barbarian.
I used the GDK at the prerelease, and was happy with his performance, but it was far from game-changing.

| | The Valenar Charger with Storm can do the same thing at greater speed and "less" cost (for the Chargers, + commander + fearless). It's why people are desperately trying to fit them together in to a cohessive band. It's a powerful ability, provided your opponent can't chase you down, or you wait them out and kill a little piece on the last turn (cheese). | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | | IMO the Dragon Knight and the flying Valenar are too much of a point investment for a meager 20 damage from almost half your warband. I get more mileage from multiple 30-50 point units that also provide more leverage and versatility. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4 | |

| | I also agree that Gith Knight is slightly-over costed; this is probably because they based their cost on the now slightly over-costed Large Red. On the other hand, Gith has almost double the hitpoints and higher attack bonus, and with keen crit 18 from the orc wizard, it has a high chance of doing 40dmg per swing.
Here's my fun Gith Knight Warband:
Skeletal Archer (or other 5pt fudder), Lolth's Sting, Swarm of Spiders x3, Tiefling Captain, Orc Wizard, Githyanki Dragon Knight.
Map: TP Temple or Drow Outpost.
Strength: Standard LG/CE beatdown (this seems to be the most popular at my meta)
Weakness: Spellcasters/flyers
Main Tactic: block the narrow passages on Drow Outpost or box your whole warband in at one of the TP Temple victory areas to allow the Gith Knight to fly in and out to do damage while their beaters slowly hack away the spiders. Push the beaters back with orc wizard to further slowing down the hacking. (How do I add blank lines and stuff on posts?)

| I've been thinking about exploiting the mobility of the Githyanki Dragon Knight. I've come up with a few things. This one looks fun to play:
Githyanki Dragon Knight Mounted Drow Patrol x2 Tiefling Captain Orc Wardrummer Hyena x2

| It´s my time to interfere, I just got my Gith warrior as my first CE rare, and I must say, that its pretty nasty, but too expensive for 200 games, du the mounted ability in the right map would give it a great adventage with its 8 speed flying, lets said maybe Mithral mines maybe, it may be pretty desesperating for non patient oponents, and it would give you an advantage as ypu can play defensive, well maybe something like this, for the lack of heavy hitters.
Githyanki Dragon Knight 98 (daa, its the idea) Red samurai 40 (sinergy with the cone, speed and its level) Xendrik Champion 23 (renged atack to support the mind game on the oponent, secondary mandatory hitter) Tiefling Blademaster 27 (mainly for the +5 dmg to the xendrik, and it would help as the enemy come closer) Orc warrior *4 (aa thank the minis gods for them)
mm its the best I can do for now, feel free to said whatever you want | | in a world of eternal darkness theres no shadows to fear. Kerwin Wolfheart was here
