Well Let discuss about an Assault format a 300 pts.

Recently my local league we play the 300 pts format (for November); with the standar rule for placing characters up to 70% of the warband cost (210pts) including Huges and epics (like Storm Archer; Justicator; Rikka; ETC)
We kept the 8 maximun miniatures per warband, and played as an standart assault format (receiving 15 pts per turn in victory Area)

Overall: The league feeling was good, people played a lot and there was a general good mood about the format (well now we are discussing in our mother languaje the true personal impresions i post late here)

What do you think about this format? Do you like the idea? It should be placed as standard format for leagues or tournaments? maybe a new format for the new starter at Night below (XD)?

I found some things in this format (my personal Thoghs)

- The rule 8 keep the fast paced game style, but now you have more points to spend, now we can play with a 2 or 3 heavy hitter warbands (for around 200 pts) leaving around 100 pts to Technical pieces.

- Some pieces not commonly used in other formats (Expensive in 200 weak for 500) see more action in this format, as the cadaver collector, Justicator, Centaur Hero, Some demons, etc. It alters in a great way the metagame, some pieces or combos become obsolete and other pieces become some tiers up.

- Caotic good see more powerfull faction in this format, because they have more points to place their pretty expensive individualistic characters as Ghaele Eladrim or Centaur Hero.

- I really found a leak, people who used epic characters as the Storm archer or Justicator, have a slight advantage over those who didn´t used them, maybe the format should be limited just to non-epic and huges.

well that are my two cents, hope this topic have some good comments, try the format and take some conclusions for your own. thanks for your attention.

Yes, people that use epic creatures will have the advantage over those who do not. One piece that could get pretty nasty is the Tundra Scout. If all of its opponents are non-huge, it could have a field day.

i like the new challange in bringing a huge figure (typically at higher cost) and still fit a hard hitter or two in, or a bunch of support depending on my huge. most have already figured out the 200 balance and this would throw them off.

As long as epics and huges arent allowed, its a rather fun format.

We played allowing all the pieces that fit in 300 pts, with the 70% points restriction to enter in the warband, even we saw Rikka epic, Justicator Epic, and Stormarcher Epic, being really powerfull; i personally suggest to limit them because they were pretty broken in game; but the main game allows all the pieces giving it a more standard game.

We've played it a couple times. It can be a nice change of pace from the regular 200 point game. Then again I prefer the 100 point game as a shake up myself.

We have often played similar. We allow huges (eg treants, sorcerer on black, purple worms) but don't normally allow epics.

i am all for more poiints, i play friendly games at 2D10x100 points, we resently played 2000 point-12 activations Mega-Epic, that was a blast.
200 pts = Normal 8 acts
300-400 pts = (No Epic) 8 acts
500-900 = Epic 8 acts
1000-1500 = Epic 10 acts
1600-2000 = Epic 12 acts

Now that 100 is no longer supported, i could see them making it 200, 300 and 500, but with the introduction of the CRD at a 1000 points, I seriously could see WoTC setting it up as 300(Normal), 500(Epic) and 1000(Iconic)

hopefully after each faction has an Icon they will become legal for skirmish

I love 100 pts games, but with the recent sets it is hard to play it, and the people with the oldest miniatures will have a great advantage.

Back to 300 pts

Which pieces useless in other formats (200-500)you think that fits in this format? maybe some warband suggestions

We've played 300 points a few times in our Leagues.  Overall I liked the format and wouldn't mind it opened up as an actual DCI format.  Our last league we did a rotating points tournament where one week it'd be 200, then 300, and then 500.  The 300 point games I liked alot as you were able to get in several beaters and a good commander and support.  I think you should disallow Epic figures and possibly huges as well.  If you allow huges you really restrict them on alot of maps so I think it'd be best to keep them in 500 where maps are already restricted.  And since 100 is pretty much done, I'd be all for a 300 point format to take it's place.

yes there arises a new dilema, which maps are allowed and which ones are not?

I think the epic ones! because epics are made for people who uses huges miniatures, and the non epic maps are not suitable for Huges.

We Used to play from time to time, some format like 250, and 300 pts, is really interesting to fit some pieces you always want to play but for only a few points you can´t.

Is nice and relaxing, because is not the Usual play you have.

I don´t agree with you in that statement! jajajaja it changes the overall Metagame! You could see two Kords with a Coautl in a warband Kicking... Backs! jejeje XD

Well I never liked the fifty formats; 150, 250, 250 and even they look a little odd and certainly changes the metagame.

Some Warbands ideas?

What do you think about 400 format?

I like 300 pt assualt and have played it fairly often but the group I play with keeps the same point restrictions for 200 pt. It just opens up the game and pieces that are too expensive for 200 pt can find play in 300 pt.
