Here's my 17 activation 500pts warband. It works nicely.
Greenfang Driud Eleminster Epic Mordy Bonded fire summoner Gnome Trickster 3 Xeph warriors 8 activations Â
MAP:ÂFrost Fefl Rift  Set up in one of the alcove corners so LOS cannot be gotten until turn 2.  First round the Bonded Fire Summoner brings in 3 small fire elementals, directly in front of the warband, keeping everything within 2 of the Gnome.ÂEle drops same.ÂGreenfang drops Vigor on Mordy.ÂGnome makes everyone invisible.ÂXephs move into position to cover bridge.ÂMordy goes flying somewhere.  Second round BFS moves out and drops 3 more elementals. ÂEle moves out and drops a sphere.ÂAll 17 activations are on the board and INVISIBLE.  Now we’ve got the ability to move about the playing field sucking up VCs, and getting flanking, and all that.ÂThe BFS needs to be well protected so that the other elementals don’t disappear.ÂAll the elementals are used for is blocking so that the casters can do their thing. ÂMordy can drop two chain lightnings on a round that will devastate a band. ÂThe fire elementals are immune to all of the fire cones this band produces.ÂOne thing to watch for is the cold cone from Mordy.  Mordy has the Defense and the HPs to withstand getting in close to drop his two swords.ÂThe he just flys away playing keepaway.   Only one thing will really minimalize this band and that is… Protection from Fire. ÂBut that won’t be that bad.ÂWe’ve still got enough maneuverability and spells to do what is needed.
I played it and it worked. nicely. An Epic Solar band was tore up. I made a couple of bad descisions that could have decimated the other band earlier.  I had forgotten about Mordy's "quick cast" to drop two chain lightning while he was tightly grouped. I could have wiped out 5 of his 8 activations with that, but instead only hurt the 5. One more CL spell and they would have died even with a save. It ended with Mordy regening (low point was 5 hps) back to full and the Solar dying by activation (2 mordys swords will do that)
I'm sure I can tweek this band to make it even more viable. |
