Subject: "Smiting Hammer" Competative Warband

I love two units in LE that have great potencial, Duergar Champs and SoulKnife Infiltrator. I dicide to Mixitup

2x Duergar Champ 66pts
3x SoulKnife 72pts
Inspired Liut 45pts
Inspired Shock Tropper 11pts
Green Spawn Sneak

Activation 8 - 200pts

Good Frontal Hitters with +17/+12, looks that he like to hit any AC, 3 Side hitters that can do 50 damages staying 1 square far and 30 movile damages, you can drop enemy HPs to 30 or 15 and then cleave with duergars. Your Commander is Assault commander, when you need support, Smite +15 is really good hit that hurt any enemy.

Looks good... What do you think?

its my opinion that you've got too many infiltrators by at least one. I think it makes a better support piece then a core piece.

Agreed, I'd drop an inflitrator for something else, perhaps a duergar slaver?

Looks decent, but I agree that that you have too many Soulknives.  Here's a warband I should have played for 200 pt constructed at XP:

Inspierd Lt
x2 DC
Large Green Dragon
Soulknife Infiltrator
Kobold Monk
T Wolf
Dire Rat

It was "inspired" by watching a similar warband played by djtool.  I practiced with it a lot and did very well with it.Â

The LGD makes set up flanks very deadly.  His BW can be a very effective fodder killer and or good against Bralani.  And the LGD with flanking is attacking at +16/+14/+14.  Also, the Soulknife if she can get a charge in could get a +18 attack with flank and CFX (as pointed out to me in an earlier post).Â

Anyhow, I also like the Inpsired Shock Troopers, I'm just not sure how to best use them.Â

Thanks Sirohk, Djtool and Goblin friend. I use the SoulKnife a lot and I think that this unit is really adaptable, because he have Short ranged attack, Good speed, decent HPs and very good melee attack if he is in the proper situation (Inspired Liutenant and large Green)

A long time ago I played LGD + 4xSoulKnife + Inpired Liutenant, An Im very surprised about this warband..... I kill enemy fodders quick and I retreat, when my enemy is low in activations I await my enemy until he is at the point that I want.... and Then CRUSH!!! , all SoulKnife over the enemy and 30 damages!!!, then if you win init just better...

I dont know if Tsucuora Quari fit well with SoulKnife... he have low damage out put.

Suddenly the inspired LT is everywhere... i knew she'd be good eventually... well bad i guess... I mean evil not bad like no-good but still no-good like evil

I played:
Inspired Lt
Maug
HH
Soulknifex2
darkmoon

Maug's a respectable +14/14 for 20mg without the flank or charge (which he should have), HH is +17/12 and will be flanking as well. Soulknife's really really hit hard in this band... you can do it with Urhok and large green too... but in this one they're +16 on the flanking charge with the HH. next round att/att/sidestep, charge with the second one... if everything hits your at 100+ dmg from 2 24pt figs in 2.5 activations!!! wow... higher chances with magic weapon... It's fun when you kill a dire bear before it does any dmg in a match... flanking is still at +14 for 20 if it's sneak attable...and if they focus on your soulknifes that HH and Maug are still around. It works to your advantage since after your soulknifes moral you can move in the inspired LT for more charging smiting action... really techy but hits really hard... falls back on HH and Maug if tech doesn't work... not bad at all.

also something new inspired by the commanders notebook this month:

4pts for fodder for 12 activations

You can also fit a second duergar in there for the cost of soulknife + greenspawn/bat + four pts left over... losing an activation doesn't exactly kill you in this case. Think of bats + snig! LE just got activation broken... Drop efreeti down to zakya or duergar and have still more points left over... I'm pretty sure LE can get up to like 16 activations now... there's a new challenge...

LE's Quad + with magic?!?!? If you don't want that extra bat you can go with a greenspawn for auto vp first round... one bat is efreetis buddy to make sure he actually gets to use all his spells, with two one drops that extra 5 dmg you always need for moral or kill, with three extra bat hangs back with the Blackgaurd and gives him those +10 hp first time he takes 10 or more. After that he's flank buddies with either the blackgaurd or Soulknife. One 6pt mini changes a lot of things this set. crazy but i like it... I need names for these warbands asap... Blackbat quad???

I really like the idea of Bats in LE.  Especially with all the spellcasters available to LE.Â

And the Bat could help the Dark Moon Monk in getting off 3 Magic Weapon spells off on the 1st round.  Something like:

x3 Helmed Horror 135
Dark Moon Monk 15
x2 Bat 12
Red Hand War Sorcerer 34
Dire Rat 4

200 pts 8 activations

Now all 3 HH's have Macig Weapon and are ready to charge into combat.  Afterwards, bats can be used for flanking.Â

Definately an anti-Shadowdancer warband.Â

Also, one could substitue in a Maug for a HH and upgrade fodder.Â

Small problem - each spell caster can only have one bat, so you can't cast 3 MWs in the first round.  In this particular band, you'd have to tie the second bat to the RHWS (and IIRC, he has no touch spells).

I hope this isn't the "best" tech LE is getting... Its cool but... well... they're evil!!! make them so!!!

Makes the blackgaurd viable again (not that he ever really left) with +10hp and an extra activation. I like it...
