| dragonmark 34 maug 41 cormyr wizard 29 cleric of order 24 dwarf wizard 21 elf warmage 42 bat familiar 8 199pts., 7act.
King's Road (not sure, this gives cover to cast spells, but I don't own it, so I'm not really sure) or maybe Mithril Mines
The very first idea for this warband was to combo Wiz of Turmish and Cormyrs, but this forces you to play Storm. So this is another version. The warmage has the bat, Mark gives immunity, Maug defends and spells go through him. Wizard gives magic weapon a uses Slapping Hands to help Maug.
I'm going to try it this weekend, I'm looking forward

| I believe the Bat is only 6 points instead of 8 which would let you add a 3 point piece.
Which spells do you think are going through the Maug? SR may protect if from some of your spells but it will only get one immunity. | | | |

| Very true, thanks. I'll add something small. Of course it won't be able to resist everything, but I wanted to get those lightning bolts through him. One immunity should be enough. The Warmage can substitute some of her spells for sound lances, and I have always played it more like a beater than a back line wizard.
If you know about somethnig better than Maug, suggest it. It will be welcomed. | | 2007 & 2008 Czech Republic Champion 2008 Czech Republic's Player of the Year

| The last time I played against this band: Champion of Eilistraee -48 Rikka, Angelic Avenger -31 2xShadowdancer -56 Mounted Drow Patrol -27 Xen'Drik Champion -23 2xLolth's Sting -14 ----------------------------------------------- - 199pts 8act
It wasn't pleasant, but the Warmage was very good, empowered ring of blades and shocking grasps devastated the opp's band. But a full-wizard band will have a hard time, but I would like to try it.
I played this:
Cleric of Syreth - 47 3xSacred Watcher - 54 Elf Warmage - 42 2xGold Dwarf Soldier - 34 Dwarf Artificer - 21 ------------------------------------------------ - 198pts 8act

| I don't think an all wizard band is the way to go, I prefer diversity and flexibility in my bands. That way you can play your band according to your opponents' weakness.

| So I played the army above and I won the whole thing
dragonmark 34 maug 41 cormyr wizard 29 cleric of order 24 dwarf artificier 21 !! (no wizard available) elf warmage 42 bat familiar 6 man at arms 3
200pts., 8act.
First round:
against Hellcat, Large Fang. It was easy, I killed him very quickly, mostly with Warmage, Maug and Cormyr. Cat's SR and Conceal 11 was a problem though and I found out that I do not have enough melee attack power, because if Maug should fall...
Second round:
against SG Runecarver, Shield Guardian and some weaker pieces. On teleport temple. We played very cautiously. The Warmage herself (and her flying familiar) singlehandedly killed the Guardian and with empowered ring of blades stormed the giant. Then I concentrated everything on him and he couldn't dish out enough damage to stop my Maug.
Third round:
Gith Dragon Knight, Tiefling Warlock and Captain, Mounted Drow Patrol. Drow Enclave (big central room, risky terrain) He put his dragon too forward and I was able to base it thanks to initiative. There was a big battle, but the Warmage showed that she's just brutal and with her Familiar set up flanking for Mark delivering electrical shocks and some spinning blades. GDK unfortunately passed the MC, but the Cormyr killed him with a 50 damage ice ray spell.
Question: GDK gets double damage from cold and Cormyr's Phalanx Spellcasting gives him +10 dmg on damaging spells. His base rate for ice ray is 15 dmg. So does he inflict 40 or 50 damage to GDK?
Fourth round:
Very bad, Vlaakith and Marilith. Both of them have SR and and they are immune to my warband (( On Broken Demongate.
Opp's Zombie White Dragon was threatened by Warmage an Bat in the south. Then Marilith attacked from the north, while Vlaakith helped the Dragon. The Maug was more or less in the south. I imprisoned Marilith with Man at Arms and Artificier and then attacked with Maug and MArk. MC passed. Cormyr sent the one spell that could affect her - SR negated. I won initiative next round and I killed her in. Meanwhile Warmage heavily damaged the ZWD, but she got injured in a blast of fire from Vlaakith. I then ran up to Maug, failed the check against SR (again ) and the next round Marilith was killed. I quickly based Vlaakith with the Bat (negating her Disintegrate) and killed her with Maug and Mark.
Fifth round:
Asura, 1 Dancer, Champion of Eilis., Xendrik. Dragonshrine.
Maug showed he's a beast and killed some creatures. Alas, that stupid dancer assassinated my commander and then routed the Warmage before she could cast a spell! The Mark with Maug (Bat providing flanking) killed the rest, there were smaller creatures which had a hard time hitting Maug and doing enough damage to him.
Conclusion:
SR hurts a lot. If Maug dies, then it's almost over. But the Mark helps. Elf Warmage rules, as does empowered ring of blades. Major resistance also helped considerably. Dancers are pain. Easily assassinated commander, but also 25 HP (survives one Shadow assassination attempt).
I hope I didn't forget something important. | | 2007 & 2008 Czech Republic Champion 2008 Czech Republic's Player of the Year
