| Well, everybody is entitled to his own opinion of course, so if people don't like the warband it's their choice, and they should be respected for it.
Personally, I think Ultrochamps do have potential, but are a bit too much of the same. I'm a fan of the ultroloth +3xDC+ extra's.

| Yea, I think the band definitly needs those extra activations. the idea of 4 DCs and an Ultraloth is nasty, but because of the difficulty in getting what you need where, it's going to lose due to those activations.
If you are down on activations, you'll have to play better to do what is needed.
I'm beginning to wonder in a Ultra Horror Band is warrented due to the ability to NOT be snuck attacked, and they have blindsight.

| @ Dordledum and lingster, You are completly right, activations control kill this warband in first rounds... I had seem this long ago. I respect and apreciate your opinions, there are very important for me.
What is your Ultra Horros warband lingster? What is the best extra for Ultra + 3 DC ? - Soul Knife - Snig - Large Duergar - Canoloth - Any other???
Thanks

| So far I've had good success (beaten once out of 8 games) with the band I posted on the last page.  Add in Snig +sniglets, a Kobold Monk for Victory Points, and a Diseased Dire Rat for getting in thier face and helping to stop them getting Victory points.
it's 11 activations and you are in decent control.  The sniglets are used for nothing more than as pieces they have to target while you march across the field, the grotto, or any open area. If you don't have an area to run across with no cover, then keep them back for complete activation control.
With the UltraHorrors, I was thinking something like this:
Kinda tough to fit these two into the band. You're losing a beater, but gaining some decent goblins. The 4 Acherons can run along with the Ultraloth as needed, allowing the HHs to run up and beat down things. remember, you don't want to split your forces too much, because they will get seperated and taken down, unless you're adept at splitting forces as a decoy
I like the idea of the Large Duergar as something extra, but I cannot get past his "large" base and single attack.

| Well you could go: Ultraloth, Helmed Horror, Duer Champ x 2 Then fit in Snig and 1 Acheron Goblin. That's 9 actvations /200pts. Or change 1 Duergar to a RHWS or Dmark and drop the Acheron to a Greenspawn sneak.
I have faced Ultra-champs running a Vlaak band (no paralysis!) which was quite annoying.  | | Champs 2007 Top 16, Team Amish Class of 2007 Seeking Northern NJ DDM'ers - "There can be only one" (I hope not) Champion of the Doppleganger

| I have still not received my Ultroloth yet. Have decided to go for Ultro + 3DC instead of Ultro + 2DC and dragonmark heir. I'm gonna use canoloth+blue+greenspawn+kobold miner as filler for my first tests. Hailstorm tower is the map.
I love the canoloth personally. He's no beater like the DC's are, but he is fast for eliminating enemy fodder/tile grabbers and cheap commanders. Tongue grab is not to be relied on (dc too low), but to be considered as an extra bonus ability. Main strength's are melee reach 4 and speed12.
for some fun, one can add a ice elemental which is very nice blocking material for 28 points, not really usefull without cones of cold though,

D. I like this idead, but have not tried it.Â
Try adding a Chraal in palce of a DC for the Cone of Cold BW to keep the Ice Elemental in the Game. The Ultraloth is tough enough to hang one Chraal on him.Â

| Yeah I agree with sirohk, Ice elemental is nice idea! and combining chrall sounds amaizing.
Something like
Ultroloth 62pts 2x DC 66pts Chraal 35pts Ice Elem 28pts 9pts in fodders and Tile grabbers.
Sounds like very competitive warband with great conbination of movement, Skills and melee power.
Great idea!

| My version of Ultrachamps: Ultraloth 3 DCs Snig + sniglets Kobold Monk Diseased Dire Rat has now gone 10 wins 1 loss.  It's a great band.  HOWEVER, there is some tweaking that can be done. A guy from my area tweaked it some. Take out the Kobold and the Rat. Put in a Greenspawn, Gobbie Skirmisher, and a Dread Warrior.   Granted the Dread Warrior is going to take it's sweet time getting to a Victory area, but by the time it gets there, the Greenspawn has racked up first and second turn points. He's fearless, got 30hps, and requires instruction. Well, the Ultraloth has his Telepathy, so he doeesn't have to be close for it to be under command. With his +9 to attack, he's going to be hard to remove from a Victory area. You'd have to pull off someone important to take care of that 10pt figure.  Plus with this variant, you get 11 activations instad of 10.
I think that's a better tweak to this band that I might try next tourney. Â
BTW, only thing that beat me was the InvisiDancers...   Some of the other bands that I did beat were not quite Teir 1 material, but had lots of potential in getting there.  | | May you find peace and happiness at the hand of Hextor.

| Hi Ryoga,
Its been awhile since I last posted I like your Ultra-Champs test
Here is my build
Ultroloth Duergar Champion x3 Destrachan Greenspawn Sneak X2
Destrachan has three cones of sonic blast and blindsight for Shadowdancers, Has Blast defenses to further reduce AC by -4.
I haven't decided on best map choice yet.
What do you guys think?

| You may want to swap out one of the sneaks for 2x 3pt pieces to up activations a bit and prevent doubling up. The destrachan is good, but I feel it's a bit soft and doesn't offer quite enough, play test it and let us know how it works out. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | While on topic, what maps do you use for this band? I'm thinking of Hailstorm tower, teleport temple and the new sewers map.

That´s a great warband, can´t wait for my Ultroloth to try it. With a Greenspawnk Sneak or T-wolf you only get to 7 activations, is a Dire Rat good enough as a tile grabber (with two Skirmishers or Skeleton Warriors)? I don´t like Kobold Miners anymore. | | German championship 12.05.07 in Berlin --------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to play DDM in Berlin, Germany? http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/dndminisberlin/

| Bring_it_On_DDM, Nice to see your UltraChamps version. Destrachan will be nice if in you current metagaming its easy to find Invisible warbands, dstrachan its regular to poor performance unit that cant do anything against a lot fo warbands, especilally CE-drummer and Cualt-Builds. If you have no other option, use it...
Thanks for your comments...
