I like.Â

The Assassin is ok and could be an interesting piece.   Attacking with flank at +12/+12 for 20 Magic damage with Sneak Attack seems decent for cost of 29 points.Â

Seems like a great pairing with the Large Green Dragon for that +4 flank bonus.Â

This guy would have been a lot better with Sidestep or something like thta to be able to get him into position.Â

I like this figure, it is definitely better than I expected it to be. The AC and HP are better than I expected. The DC for Death Attack isn't super scary at first glance, but on a 29 point figure, its really not bad considering how many popular save 6-7 figures there are. Even if you can't pull off the death attack, a potential of 40 damage from this guy is pretty decent.

Finally we have the Death Attack, now the deathblow of the AoOrcus have a better explanation.

It seems to be a nice pieceto have in mind, it could be devastating if the enemy don´t pass the low DC. And the better of everything, is LE.

Another sink or swim piece for skirmish. If the enemy's key pieces can be sneak attacked, then you're good to go. If they're not, they you're toast.

Not bad at all.

Declare the sneak attack against an enemy commander (such as, for instance, Storm).

Attack is at +12 with a flank, so, good odds of hitting. Storm should succeed on the save DC, but even then she takes 20, and you have a piece flanking her that, next round, could deliver another 40. Of course, surviving that walk up to Storm could be a challenge...

Maybe the duergar slaver's invisibility or the beholders telekinesis could help position this guy for the flank...

Yeah, won't be useful against the popular SW warbands, either.

The DC on the death attack seems a bit on the low side. It's a nice plus, but I wouldn't count on pulling it off against anything significant.

Ignoring that ability, the Duergar Champ seems a lot more reliable, but it might be worth working one of these guys into certain LE warbands.

It is amazing how people define low DCs. Despite common misconceptions, not every piece in the game has save 10. In fact, just about every piece currently played in Storm PORC (other than Storm herself) has save 6-8. Heck, even against save 10, this is a 20% chance of death. That may not sound that impressive, but that means that 1 out of 5 times (remember, an average major tournament is at least 5 games), this guy will outright kill a unit that is worth more points than him (possibly significantly more points than him).

Against Storm PORC, that 20% chance increase to 30% or even 40%. Those percentages are far from bad, especially for a special ability that kills outright.

I can see an Aspect of Hextor band with 2 or 3 of these bad boys being absolutely terrifying. It ends up being luck of the dice, but even one failed save (let alone two) can end a game before it begins.

Well, 15 is not as low as 13 or the like, but relying on a 20 per cent chance is too shabby for me. And yes, against PORC it is more useful and he even has enough HP to survive to be able to engage, but still, 35 damage causes MC and he has the level of 7, so he will run away in about 40 per cent of time.

He has only one use of the Death Attack ability.

It is similar to epic Strahd, he has two uses of Dominate (DC 20), but against Bahamut and the like (save 15) it's not worth the points, it's too much of a risk. That's why you try to squeeze things like Cursed Spirit or Trogs in, to exploit the potential, or you are jsut paying a whole heap of points for a weak creture.

The assassin would have to have the Death Attack ability like an added bonus, but without it he is weaker than Shadowdancer, so you look for ways of exploiting the ability.

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying that 15 is not reliable

I want to see a light and fast band using harbinger mind flayer, snig, and 5 of these guys... use your activation control to out wait your opponent's strategy and then move the assassins into flanks and pray for the moral failures?

Too many units are fearless for this to be effective, that does not include those immune to flanks and those that are immune to sneak attacks.

I was thinking goblin underboss too +5 to sneak attack damage. Now your cooking. Flanking with speed 6 isn't easy. In fact against good players its incredibly difficult. So alot of thought has to go into it. Duergar slaver can make one invisible. Hobgoblin Marshall can boost the speed.

And you need another commander, because this one is very squishy and dies quickly.

You need more assasins than 2 . You would have to drop dragonmark and forget 2nd commander in order to do enough damage and secure at least one round of flank. 2 isn't going to do it. the problem is their to hit rolls . I say the marshall as a second commander to get them in position faster.

Ehh... I originally thought he did 10m+15 sneak att... that 5m really hurts... good think the design team made most undead useless... too bad though...

still a great piece for your back up hitter... needs a flyer really... good thing LE has the sturdiest flier in the game in the Helmed Horror...
