| So, I don't know if you've checked the Digester's stats, but they're unbelievably good.
Suppose your opponent plops down a Quad Digester band.
What do you do to beat it?

If you can't beat them, join them. I absolutely mopped up last night in some fun games using:
Runecarved Eidolon Digester x3 Darkmantle Elf Archer x5 Map: Dwarven Outpost
My first match was against a Death Knight/Vampire Vizier band which was actually kinda close. I managed one hit on the Death Knight with an Elf Archer which dropped him to 65hp. After that, it was three consecutive attacks from digesters at +21, +22 and +23 which all hit for 25 damage each - no more Death Knight. From the woods on King's Road (his map), I could use the digester's cones at +19 vs DEF(Fort) for 15 acid + 10 ongoing acid. That put some serious hurt on his mid-range pieces. His vampire survived the game after killing some elves for the healing but I won on points in round 6.
Second match was against Dwarf Warlord + 3xCoDD. This one wasn't even close. He only made one attack with the Warlord (on which he rolled a 1) before he was mobbed by 2 digesters and taken down. Now at even champion ratings, I just focused on one Dol Dorn at a time. He often couldn't charge me because he didn't have line of sight to the hiding Digesters. Also - the Archers attacking at +12 (15) only needed one hit to drop them CoDDs below 75hp so that they could be mopped up by three digester hits.
I like my odds with this band on taking out a quad digester band because they need 4 hits to kill one of mine, but I only need 3 hits to kill one of them. Also - I hit more often even though my archers won't be as useful since they hide. | | A Proud Gelatinous Dude

| I've beaten most of the popular test bands with Quad Digester which makes them a good choice for qualifiers in my opinion. My test version is:
4 Digester Rot Scarab 5 Elf Archer
The figure I find scariest for the band is the Eternal Blade. She slightly negates the Digester's high defense and makes them die in 3 hits rather than 4 from most attackers. Needing 16 hits(4 each) to kill them all makes the Digesters almost unstoppable in a timed game as even good attackers will miss on occasion. 12 hits (3 each) is much more achievable.
Digesters are an excellent counter to MFL bands if anyone is looking for one of those. You can sneak out and kill their VP grabbers than huddle back as needed. MFL bands have almost no ability to go on offense against a defending band with hide.
The Eidolon band above would be an excellent counter to Quad digesters. It wins the fodder war for certain, then is able to outmatch them on offense once the Eidolon is active. Except for the MFL match up, I would call it a solid upgrade over my version. Against MFL's the Eidolon has to hide or risk getting owned by confusion. That cuts down on your options a bit too much I think.

| A big part of why the digesters stats are good, is the ongoing acid damage. Multiple hits from the same ongoing effect don't stack. So 4 Digesters would waste a lot of their offensive ability. One or 2 could be good. | | | |

The Capricious Copper is immune to acid, so that's handy. Two of them and an EB might stand a chance against Quad Digesters. Especially if they're counting for 49 points per kill...

You're confusing me enough as is with what I need to prepare for at Ypsi next weekend.
So, I've thought about this a lot. In the past, I've gone between A) holding my cards close to my chest, not revealing anything; B) posting like crazy; C) posting a little bit, dropping hints.
Admittedly, I, like some others, have sometimes tried to use C) as a strategy. Post things I want others to plan for (call it, band X), and then figure out the bands that beat X (call them, collectively, Y), and then show up to the qualifier with band Z (which is optimized to deal with all the Y bands out there).
The problem is, with as many people as there are reading posts (far more than the people participating by posting, I assure you), this only could possibly undercut a small sampling of the bands.
I've tried A), but, like a little kid before Christmas (well, except for Kyle ), I just can't keep my mouth shut.
So, instead, I do B). Everyone at the qualifiers have seen what I can dream up, and, since there are so many good players, and most of them are friends of mine, I don't care so much if I lose.
I may not qualify, but friends of mine will.

| | I lost to Quad Digesters playing MFL/LSD/Drider. Admittedly, rolling a 1 on the killing blow of my opponents Delver Seargent hurt (when the +hit > ac), but the Digesters are rough and durrable guys. They really just need a synergistic commander, and may be even more valuable with the ammount of Mounts running around (since they are guaranteed 2 pieces stacked for breaths). While I really like the Eidolon, I dont think he really needs to be there for the Digesters, perhaps there's something better to put with them? | | | |

If everybody would share their meanderings, I think we could see a lot more variation in the meta. The more ideas, the more inspiration I guess.
