04/28/2008 12:45 PM Alert
This past weekend I ran a Dual Young Silver Warband.

I went 2-2 with it.

My Band:

Young Silver Dragon x2
Merc General (Elf archer Cohort)
6 Elf Archers
Farmer

200pts.

11 activations.

The Archers for thier measly 5 pts proved deadly as a +14 attack tends to hit most often than not.  Yea, still 10 dmg, but there's 7 of them running around.  Once the merc genreal is out of champ points, they drop back to +10.Â

The YSD's were quite fun to play.  Breathing on specific characters to get rid of them was quite nice.  I had a couple of very effective (and several not so effective breaths).   One breath hit 4 out of 6 characters aimed at.  One of the characters was Raitlin.

Special thanks go out to the YSD that critted an Oni  to remove him from the game.

They are good, but somethng needs to come out that gives them a slight bit more oomph with thier breath weapon.   can't wait for Mina or the Dragon Totem Hero.  Perhaps they will beef up the dragon's attacks to make them a bit more viable.

May you find peace and happiness at the hand of Hextor.

You, my friend, have guts of iron. I wouldn't dare run a band like that.

To add Oomph:

Switch out a Young Silver Dragon (62) and one Elf Archer (5) for a RuneCarved Eidolon (52) and a Militia Archer (14) for 11 acts and 199 Points.

RE adds +2/+5 to all your attacks, and MA adds +2 attack against higher level enemeies.

This raises you YSD's attack to +12/45 Dmg and you EA's to +18/15 Dmg.

RE serves as second beater, when needed (after an elf dies).

Enjoy,

Taxbane

Hi, Taxbane, and welcome to Maxminis!

That's a nice band idea you have there!

I agree with Dave, I wouldn't have the courage to run smth like this (and prolly get squashed utterly:-)).

That does sound a bit better.  I don't have a runecarver.  but to see the look of peoples faces when a FIVE POINT figure is hitting at +18 for 15....   OUCH.

May you find peace and happiness at the hand of Hextor.

just out of curiosity... What did you go 2-2 against?

Personally, the new silver just doesn't stack up; it's one of the best if not the best looking dragon and one of the very worst for stats (small white wins that me thinks)...

Rock Bottom Pricing:
Arcane Archer 30, Centaur Hero 67, Human Cleric of Bane 25, Gold Champion 34, Death Knight 52, Goblin Blackblade 9, Silentwolf Goblin 7, Orc Raider 10, Dwarf axefighter 9, Healer 9, Thaskor 65, Aspect of Demogorgon 71, Ogre 9, Fire Giant 79, Human Wanderer 7, Drunken Master 18, Barghest 12, Longstider Barbarian 27, Longtooth Barbarian 22, Frost Giant 76, Ravenous Vampire 42, Large Earth Elemental: priceless

Anything that boosts the dragons attack up alot is really great. But no matter how you can buff it, at the end of the day the BW is still very high variance and can totally wreck face sometimes, but more often than not doesn't pan out.

If i were running a RCE I wouldn't run it with the silver. He's fun wtih ALL ranged pieces. It can be pretty nasty.
