The Dwarf Warlord's card states - [] Drive into Peril; +19 vrs AC; 30 Damage AND push target up to 2 squares;

The definition of Push in the rule book is - a creature pushed away from the acting creature must move into a square that is farther from the acting creature.

I'm kinda thrown by the words 'up to' in the Warlord's card.

My question is this, when I choose to employ Drive into Peril, can I choose NOT TO push my opponent's mini at all. As the card states that I can push UP TO 2 squares and that means zero squares is also legit? But that doesn't go with the book's Push definition of being farther away from acting creature.

You can push 0, 1 or 2 squares.

What the rulebook says is this: there are three kinds of moving effects - push, pull, slide. Every square a creature is pushed/pulled into must be farther/closer from the acting creature. If you push 0, no push happens.

Thanks for your reply, Pedro.

So if no push happens then Drive into Peril is not used? That would be my ruling.

So say a Death Knight were based to the Dwarf Warlord and the Dwarf's player 'A' uses the Drive into Peril special power, can Player 'A' choose to push the Death Knight 0 squares and have the Death Knight STILL base the Dwarf Warlord for whatever reason?

No, the drive ino peril would still be used, because the attack and damage of it are being utilized.

If no push happens is that legal?

I mean, if the mini can be legally pushed away but I choose to push 0 squares - is that legal?

Right. Drive into Peril is used. I agree.

It's just not sitting easy with me that I can choose to push a mini 0 sqaures if I choose to.

The push effect is optional for drive into peril as it says "up to..." much like deathjump spiders death from above...

Dol dorn is not so lucky (thank god; they're good at everything else)...
