Here is a link to the clarifiactions for mount rules:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20080507

Looks like some big changes.  Takes the power level down but does not make it useless.  What do you think?

I think the changes are good. I can see one potential problem though. If it ever gets decided that shifting can't be done in Smoke terrain (and, for now, I'm going to say that they aren't going to make this change, because it would cause an unroar), then Wulfgar on a Warhorse gets nerfed too much.

I think it's fair.

Never heard of the smoke-shift thing, though. Why should it be banned?

Yeah Dave, why would they ever do that? That would be the most silly abritrary rule ever.

Methinks Kevin knows something which I do not. I have seen quite a few arbitrary rules already...

Thanks for the link Bert. That is precisely what I was considering.

from that thread:

Clear terrain is defined as terrain that does not slow movement.

Teleporters and smoke are both clear terrain (terrain that does not slow movement).

Sounds pretty clear to me,

Well, from what I read it looks like using Mounts got a little nerfed.  No first turn nuking your start area.  And no full speed ahead with your mount, jumping off, and charging the enemy.Â

Seems ok to me.  Not total depowering of the Mounts, just enough to bring a little more balance to the game.Â

So who's still playing mounts?Â

still completely useable, melee mount ups don't lose too much but simply stopping 1st activation nukes was really needed.
