| Yay! The best part of the Warband Building Challenge, the voting.
I don't think there's a clear winner regarding setup. Some people prefer the right side, some the left. So, I can't just assume that the higher champion rating gets the better side, since the better side is undefined. Thus, I'm going to imagine each match played twice. If one band seems the clear winner both times, then it's an easy vote.
The Large Shadow Dragon's points are listed incorrectly for player 5; but the band is legal.
Match 1: 1 Match 2: 2 Match 3: 14 Match 4: 4 Match 5: 13 Match 6: 7 Match 7: 9 Match 8: 11
Match 1: I think that the greater activations combined with the ability to eliminate Conceal will win the day. Match 2: If the Wild Mage gets a couple good rolls, this one goes to player 10, otherwise, I think player 2 has the advantage. Match 3: This will be close. If the Ice Archon can tie up a choke point, then he can win if the Ice Archon can stay alive. Otherwise, this one will go to the more mobile Shadow Dragon band. Match 4: Battle of the bizarre! I wouldn't have thought a Lamia or a Skeletal Tomb Guardian could pull off a victory. The Lamia's toughness prevails. Match 5: The Ice Archon is avoided as much as possible and the game goes to player 13 on points. Match 6: No one should look forward to facing player 7 Match 7: Stun and Confusion last long enough to ruin player 15's day. Player 9 wins a close one. Match 8: Enough places to hide on the map allows player 11 to avoid the early blasts from the mages, and once melee settles in, things go badly for player 12.

| Match 1: 1 Match 2: 10 Match 3: 3 Match 4: 4 Match 5: 13 Match 6: 7 Match 7: 15 Match 8: 11
Match 1: 1 - more activations and more ranged power Match 2: 10 - both bands own good ranged attackers, but I think the dwarfen tag-team will win the game for player 10 Match 3: 3 - I believe, Conceal 11 given by the LShD and the RSS, taking out the archon, give the advantage to player 3 Match 4: 4 - only one or two Breath Attacks from the LShD is not enough for the Lamia Match 5: 13 - more activations and more ranged power Match 6: 7 - Dwarfen Squad f.t.w. Match 7: 15 - it's a coinflip in my eyes, but I think player 15 has more tactical options, with the Kalashtar to win the game Match
8: 11 - the higher number of ranged attckers will be no help against
all those fast melee attackers, the Underdard-Quad wins

| Ok, here are my picks, with minimal comments, mostly because I don't want to sway people in one direction or the other.
Match 1: Player 1. I'd like to see this one as a good player could make or break it, but that's the way it is with a lot of these. I went with Player 1 because there was just too much close/burst for the Scarab tech to definitely make it to the rodeo.
Match 2: Player 2. Stupidly difficult call for me.
Match 3: Player 14. Again, hard for me to judge. I went with 14 for a couple of reasons ranging from the tech to the Ice Archon - Astral Stalker Quick Claws combo.
Match 4: Player 8.... Holy hell. Comes down to Player 8 having a higher initiative (thus letting point #2 seem more likely), the Skeletal Tomb Guardian who is pretty likely to take the Thrall out of the game quickly, and how the two warbands compare once the Thrall is off the table. It's all luck though, as if the Tomb Guardian DOESN'T take the Thrall off the table, there's a Rot Scarab to shut him down. Again, one of the few match-ups that count on one having a higher initiative.
Match 5: Player 13. I love the synergy of Player 6's, but I think the map favors Player 13's warband.
Match 6: Player 7. Speed 9 Battleragers with an attack boost frighten me in this particular match-up. It's a close call as I think the map wants to favor player 16, but the direct strategy of the other warband I feel overcomes it.
Match 7: Player 15 Bizarre Freak Warband mirror match of sorts. With all things being even, it comes down to Quori & Kalashtar Bodyguard vs. Vrock & Digester. Â Hard call...I went with 15 for it's ability to removed spores of Madness from the equation (Sting) & the Bodyguard ability.
Match 8: PLayer 11. While the map favors the range of Player 12, the other warband is just going to close the distance too quickly.
There you go.
edit: Sorry, not in the right format. Match 1: 1 Match 2:Â 2 Match 3:Â 14 Match 4: 8 Match 5: 13 Match 6:Â 7 Match 7:Â 15 Match 8:Â 11

1: Player 1 has this pretty much hands down. 5 has no champ, and 1 just simply outmuscles it with superior power and initiative wins. 2: I think that player 2 is gonna barely eke this one out. It'll be close, but I think that the superior mobility is gonna give the Driders and Warlord a hard time. 3: This looks like a battle of attrition, plain and simple. The Archon and Stalker just have the AC and HP to make it to the end alive. 4: If Player 8 just concentrates all his resources on elimiating the Lamia as soon as possible, it's as good as won. The Shadow Dragon is going to be a huge help getting past the Lamia's Swarm ability. 5: Those Rot Scarabs look to me like the game breaker. They keep the Thrall and Barghest still while the Archon and the meat shields beat them to death. 6: Spectral Panther is a great fig, but player 16 needs more 'umph' to get the most out of the Heirophant. 7: The Kalashtar grants some massive defensive boost to this already fairly sturdy band. Yeah, that's a freakin weird matchup. Looks like a blast to play, though. 8: This one comes down to the Conceal rolls. The Bat is key to victory for Player 12, though, and that's an exceedingly weak foundation versus that calibur of melee creatures coming to beat the tar out of you. | | Champion of the Kruthik Hivemaster!

| Sweet; ties are awesome. I wonder who has the highest-cost piece closest to the center of the board?
You know, we should really have a tie-breaker rule for each WBC. Something that encourages certain kinds of builds. For example: "In the case of a tie, the band with the highest-point piece wins; if that's a tie, then move on to the second-highest cost piece, etc. If the bands are identical, then the band which was submitted to the contest first wins."

| that woud be interesting... There are a ton of new titans coming out so in the future the titanyest band would win ties... How have titans fared in former wbcs?
In this case it is the lamia... That's cool; one less top shadowdragon band is a good thing...

Dave Highest-point piece is not a good example in my oppinion, especally in 2.0. Titan bands tend to have less activations or less quality except the titan himself and maybe one or two mid cost minis. Champion rating would be more relevant, winning more initiatives is often a very important fact. It would also animate players to add at least one Champion to the band. The second tie breaker may be the point-cost or something else.

| the fun of the wbc is in the challenge and oddity market... If ties went by champ rating it would force people to play a champion in a format where no champ bands can actually work. Point cost is more of a random thing and would reward people for building around pieces that don't see play in standard.
Since both ways punish or force people to build a certain way, let the organizer choose the winner. Of course since the organizer is the only one who knows whose is whose this is also slightly problematic.
Option 4 is a poll and let that decide the winner. People can convince others to flip or flop or whatever. And it will likely get a few more people to vote (still have to have 50 or more posts or a warband in the event to count)...
Four seems the most "fair" but 3 is easier. In future wbcs we need to stipulate tie breakers. | | Rock Bottom Pricing: Arcane Archer 30, Centaur Hero 67, Human Cleric of Bane 25, Gold Champion 34, Death Knight 52, Goblin Blackblade 9, Silentwolf Goblin 7, Orc Raider 10, Dwarf axefighter 9, Healer 9, Thaskor 65, Aspect of Demogorgon 71, Ogre 9, Fire Giant 79, Human Wanderer 7, Drunken Master 18, Barghest 12, Longstider Barbarian 27, Longtooth Barbarian 22, Frost Giant 76, Ravenous Vampire 42, Large Earth Elemental: priceless

| A run off would take too long, and an obscure back up win condition would be unfair at this point. I think the fairest way would be to have me cast a vote based on band merit. Looking at the pairings I think player 4 would win in a close game most of the time. the lamia would be tough to handle by the threats player 8 is running. 8 has some strong hitters but they are weaker on HP. The Lamia is just too sturdy for them to take out quickly and Thrall is too great a risk of stealing an opposing figure to swing things in its favor.
That makes: Winners: Player 1 Player 2 Player 14 Player 4 Player 13 Player 7 Player 15 Player 11
Losers: Player 5 Player 10 Player 3 Player 6 Player 8 Player 9 Player 12 Player 16 | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! Check out my brand new blog: http://bshugg.blogspot.com
