Yeah, 2nd edition.
It was an arcane spell. Pretty sure it's greyhawk since Melf was greyhawk (I think, but I'll admit, I'm not a greyhawk guru).
It basically summoned a bunch of little meteors that your wizard could use as a ranged weapon.

| When it first came out (in the 1e Unearthed Arcana) we referred to it as "Melf's Mini Machinegun". [:)]

| Hey, i will update it when i get a chance, but until then ...
I was looking at some other spells, and especially Melf's Acid Arrow.
I decided to change Melf's Minute Meteors school to be Conjuration (Creation) [Fire] instead of Evocation [Fire]. This will also change SR: Yes to SR: No
It fits better with the fact the you are creating meteors and then throwing them vs. just causing them to explode on the enemey. Melf's Acdi Arrow follows this principle, and thus makes for the perfect example to follow. I think i left it Evocation as that was the 2nd edition school and i forgot that spell schools changed slightly in the switch. | | | |

| Nice write-up Jai, I recall quite a few people asking for this spell ages ago on the WOTC message boards, quite the fan favourite!
I agree you should change it to Conjuration both because of the effect and the SR. AS I figure it, a 3rd lvl spell that only does 1d6 dam, Rflx for half and requires a R.T. Attack, should at least not suffer from SR. It's strengths are obvious. | |

Yeah, this spell is one that people are like, but fireball does 5d6 at once when i learn it. And then i point out that fireball caps at 10d6, this one will keep growing into epic levels ... can you say 20+ rounds of free action meteors *while* casting fireballs and other nastiness ? ? ? The orc horde is approaching ... while the fighter with great cleave is wading through them put the wizard on the castle wall!
