Possibly a fun RPing combination, but it seems like it would pull the character in too many directions for "effectiveness".

Wasn't this thread about "interesting" ideas and not necessarily "effective" ideas? Why does every combination have to be "effective" in order to be used? | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

Paladin/Sorcerer... It might be an intersting build for a spellsword...
Pal4/Sorc4, then into Spellsword. its not the fastest build, but at that level you can easily afford decent armour and possibly mithril armour for the reduced spell failure.
The paladin levels bring some decent muscle to the combination as well as the turning which can be put to work with feats like Divine Vigor or Divine Shield while the sorcerer levels can bring some support to the paladins abilities, most likely with a few buff spells or ranged attack/takedown spells.
I'll try a few builds through the week with my gaming group and get back to you on that one as to how effective it is. | | Einstein would turn in his grave; God does play dice, and the dice are loaded!

To some people around here, effective = interesting, noneffective = not interesting. So I thought I would point out both sides.

Just got back from testing the build with a few mates... As a support character, the build is great, healing, buff spells and a little combat support. As a PC, the character is severly lacking at low level, but as soon as the build hits about 10th to 12th level, everything falls into place, it is a decent combat build and it makes a positively SCARY archer build with a spell-storing bow. From memory the combo went.. divine maximised fireball into bow, truestrike self, fire 1d8+STR+60fire(in 20' radius) with 5%+5% spell failure at 12th with virtually no chance of missing and the ability to fire over obstructions that would normally not allow you to use fireball. True there are probably stronger builds than this but it is still fairly good.
on the other hand, Paladin/Bard/Evangelist which is another build we tested is postitively scary in roleplaying encounters and the ability to run around with heavy armour turns him into a fairly survivable combat charcter if he has a low dex. Add in the ability to neutralize many combats just by opening his mouth is also quite handy. | | Einstein would turn in his grave; God does play dice, and the dice are loaded!
