| | I'll have to check on the make and model number. It was a small and light weight version designed for easy transport for presentations in smaller seminar rooms. We have larger and heavier versions, for auditorium lectures as well, but I'm not certain my chandelier can support something that size. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread | |

| I've been thinking about it for some time as well.
My biggest difficult is that we play in a basement, and we'd have a very short throw distance for the projector.
I continue to read and gobble up everything I can about this though, as it DOES seem to be the future.

| | For our set up, the bulb of the projector was maybe 4 feet above the gaming table. If you have a low ceiling, you could always battle on a very low table just off the floor. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread | |

| | I'd be worried about hanging expensive equipment from the ceiling...I'd probably try to rig some kind of mirror setup instead. Glad things worked out for you, though! | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? Did I miss something fun?" -Vindicated champion of Tordek, Dwarf Champion | |

Yes we took lots of pictures. I would gladly post them, but I need someone to host them. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

Well the chandelier hanger is strong enough to hold a 30 lb. chandelier, so it can probably handle a 2-3 lb. projector. The harness we crafted (chains and nylon straps) was pretty secure, so that puppy wasn't going anywhere.
We actually breifly experimented with a mirror, but found this to be a far superior method. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

Yeah ... so you didn't outlay the $1k+ for this yourself ... using an existing projector ... that cash outlay is my stumbling block. I'm still looking at one so I can get a much larger screen for my daughter to use so she can see things clearer ... but it's a chunk of change.
Yes, I can see how this would be a hold up. If you don't have access to one through work or school, purchasing one (plus replacing the bulb over time) would be somewhat prohibitive. I've heard that they can be found on Ebay somewhat affordablely. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

| Keep in mind as well that you boss may not be to happy if his bulbs are burning out with greater frequency...
(what are they, $100-200 a pop?)

Something like that.
We shut it off between encounters, when taking breaks, and when doing things other than dungeon delving. It probably was only run for a couple hours total which isn't beyond the normal use this thing sees in a day.
There certainly is the question of whether orienting the projector vertically results in increased stress on the bulb (ergo a shorter bulb life). I don't really want to find out if that's the case. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

As someone suggested earlier on another thread, you can use Photobucket to store photos. Not only does it store them (for free), it even gives you the actual forum code to insert a picture into your posts (just use the code with the [square brackets]).
