| Found it an interesting topic, thanks Merric!
I generally use some version of the 3.x sheets. I bought teh Character sheets when they came out, and made a lot of photocopies (unlimited copies at work is a nice benefit). I still have a bunch of them floating around. If I have a character I know I'll be using fairly frequently, I'll often move up to one of the deluxe 4-page sheets. My friends often prefer the latest Eberron character sheets as well. I think the main reason for their popularity is that once you've used those sheets, it's just very easy to find anything on them, and Wizards has done a decent job in its layout.
I've also managed to pick up a dozen other sheets from the internet -- I'm just a collector/hoarder that way. Some are really cool ideas like putting the 3.x sheets into an Adobe Reader form, basically allowing you to type onto the 3.x sheets. Some are 15 page books with all sorts of character related info. Some have cool colours, layout etc., but I, like your players, still return to the "official" character sheets.

| Ema seems to be the sheet of choice for my experienced groups. One of the players does use his own sheet that he made up.
The majority of my newbie group uses the WotC sheets. Most likely because that's what they started with when one player printed out a bunch of copies. One of the players in that group also made up her own character sheet because she wanted her dogs stats on the front page.
I prefer Mad Irishmans sheets, but I sometimes go old school with the notebook paper. My NPCs get notebook character sheets if they are fleshed out, otherwise I found a stripped down "cheat sheet" that you can fit 6 characters on. It's also used so I have a record of the PCs, but I wish I could find one that was laid out better.

| | I actually prefer the Living Arcanis sheets though I don't play in the campaign. I find the pdf format clear and concise and the auto calculate feature really cuts down generation time. (Especially when a PC dies and their character-tree isn't complete yet.) The only drawback is it requires a full-version of Adobe Acrobat to save the completed form. | | Email Offers | Trade History Champion of the Frost Giant Jarl "Pray that you meet death standing on your feet, rather than on your knees." | |
