| | I just saw this on the WotC page, and I feel the same way. My mind is immediately jumping to the thought of bringing a Call of Cthulhu feel to D&D, which seems like a lot of fun and a bit more forgiving than the "run away or die" feel I got from the Call of Cthulhu RPG. I'm hoping it's not going to be a let down. | | Successful Trades (31) | Trades Pending (0) 12th Place in the 2005 Nationals, and I owe it all to the Minis Training Montage. | | It certainly looks exciting but I'll wait until its on the shelf at the FLGS before I go overboard in excitement. From the read it does sound like it should provide some good 'horror' supplement beyond what the Book of Vile Darkness provides. | | You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? | The trouble with Ravenloft is it takes the possibility of horror scenario out of regular games and confines it to its own world.
Heroes of Horror will be more general than that.
(Actually, I ran Feast of Goblyns set in Greyhawk, and I think it was much more effective for that change).

| | I am SO looking forward to this book. Creating a feeling of horror is frickin' hard in a game, considering how powerful a party can be. Sure, you can have them up against something powerful, but that's not horror, thats terror, and can easily turn into just another fight. | | Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!

| | I'm pretty adept at putting the fear into my players as it is, but I'm buying this book as soon as it hits the shelves because it looks like it could expand on that a great deal, not to mention offer cool prestige classes and magic items. (Besides, I was impressed with Heroes of Battle. Then again, I was also impressed with Races of Stone... then I got Races of Destiny.) | | Drumsticks can also be chicken. -Tardy Turtle | |
