| | I've got a smaller one myself. I never thought an 8x4 map would ever be needed, let alone fit in the gaming room. | | Pathetic Earthlings. | | That size would cover my table. I used a 4X8 sheet of plywood for the top. the players would not have any place to place their stuff though. But think of the missile fire!!! | | Ambassador of FUN!!! | |

| | I didn't know there was an 8'x4' mat available. How much is it? I am making an 8'x4' battle mat on vinyl, and it is tedious. I have drawn over 1/4 of the lines in. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

| The regular price for one is $91.00, the seconds are $65.00 (small factory defects, mine has a small smear where some of the ink ran.) We were Exhibitors at dragon con so got a discount. Yes it does cover the entire table and everyone just puts there stuff on top of it. But no one has any problem moving their dice and papers if the actions moves towards them.

| | I think the vinyl I bought to make one was about 15 dollars. Add 5 for the sharpies, and I think it's worth the hassle of making one. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

| This is for RPG...this isnt useful for skirmish.
But does any have or even heard of Tact-Tiles or Tak-Tiles.
Its something like that.
Anyway its 1" squares for minis on dry erase squares. the squares connect like puzzle peices so you can add rooms and stuff as they progress through dungeons.

I beg to differ. I bought a factory second single-sided Megamat (34½” x 48”) and with a pair of scissors...voilá, perfect size! [:D] | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis

One of my groups uses them. While nice for some things, I find they come up lacking.
Unless you have time to pre-draw on them, the fact that you have to put them together and then draw on them is tedious.
If your group likes to break up or spread apart, they come up short. If you had more than one set they may be OK, but a single set (at $60) just isn't enough for us.
The other problem is that when they are picked up, the players spread their books out and then need to adjust when you go to put them down. With a big mat (we used to use a sewing board) the players can have their books on the mat and just move them when the action heads their way.

I agree. This is why I am making the large mat. I already have 8'3" by 4'3" clear vinyl that I am going to put on top of the battle mat. We will use overhead (wet erase) markers to draw the rooms on the clear vinyl. The clear vinyl is larger than the table and my wife hand sewed on some snaps so that it stays in place. My mat will mostly be used for RPG, though it can be used for casual large skirmish mat. I have made a regular size vinyl mat for normal skirmish matches. | | "Look to God and live." Eight by four is, I believe, the size of a regulation pool table. While not everyone has enough room for one, many folks do. Besides, it's possible to rework (i.e. "cut") the mat into two 4'x4' pieces which might be handy.
Of course, even if you don't have enough table for a mat that size, it's been my experience that most games happen on the floor. Of course, my friends are all probably freaks. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| I've got a friends Mondo-Mat in the car, it fruggin' rocks. And I've played on Tact-tiles, they're even cooler.
But the cost! Man! | | Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!

| We have 6 or so sets of dwarven forge. They take a while to set up, but we just drop them off with the GM and he makes a series of rooms that we are going to be headed into and leaves them covered until we hit the room. We also have a number of the mage knight accessories such as tables and chairs . We don't use it all the time, but when we do, it is just so frickin cool.

| I use several of the smaller write on maps (In advance)
Toss these on top of the large main map.
Good for buildings. About 50/50 maps or Dwarven Forge. Depends on the event... | | Cheers !! ----THOR (Atlanta GA) Kauke@Juno.com (E-Mail me for a current Trade List) www.maxminis.com/hwlist.asp?user=Thor

| | I prefer my calendar. Offices tend to have them. They're thick, stiff ply cardboard with a sortof laminated surface that is good for whiteboard markers. They fold in half and fold out to about 4x3. On one side, is a calendar, but on the other it's just white. Score it with 1" squares and you've got a pretty darn decent and very portable battlemat for really cheap. | | Bite me. | |
