| The Basic Game is good for a couple of hours of fun. It is based on the 3.5 rules but only has the bare necesities. Fighter, Cleric, Rogue and Sorcerer classes, a few feats, magic items and spells and a small skill list.
A fun alternate use of the Basic Game is to run the intro adventure as a two-player DDM scenario. One controls the heroes and the other the monsters in each room. | | Powergamers of the World, Unite! Completed Trades: jedijon, Rakhamon | |

The introductory adventure takes about 1-2 hours, although it is likely to be longer with a newbie group.
There are rules for creating your own adventures as well.
It's a very good adventure, IMO. I've run it twice, and the players enjoyed it both times.
Cheers!

| | Thank you both for your replys. That helps alot. I was going to try and tailor it a little, so that it will be somewhat shorter, but I was unsure on how long it lasted. Thanks again. | | I need a newcastle... | |

| I had 4 new players build up real D&D 3.5 characters and took them through the Basic Game dungeon. not counting character gen (did that in a seperate session) it took about 4 hours.
Mind you they were newbies, and they were playing it safe. They wandered as far as the fake dragon, turned around and barracaded themselves in the Alchemist's lab to sleep for a night before moving on.
They were smart enough not to touch the altar, but even so one player fell unconsious in that room simply because he played his Barbarian Dwarf like a tank, but didn't have a competent healer to back him up.
