| Are we only allowed to choose from the list you gave?
I would make the choice based upon the campaign world and what I knew of the backstory. Forgotten Realms is different from Greyhawk, is different from Eberron, is different from Dark Sun, etc.
I have to admit that Thri Kreen have never seemed all that interesting to me, Warforged are a bit more compelling.
An it is Paladin by the way.
Cheers [:)] | | Successful Trades: 77 * Pending Trades: 0 * Bad Trades: KONG (B.W.) Trade History * Trading Thread * Sales Thread * Winnipeg Meetingplace

| Some monsters are start out more powerful than the average human, elf, dwarf etc. So if you use one of these, such as the Thri-Kreen, then you have to level adjust to make them equivelent in power to the classic races.
The level adjust, usually given in the monsters description in the monster manual, is added to the creatures HD to give it its Effective Character Level(ECL).
for example a Thri-kreen has a level adjustment of +2 and starts with 2HD so a 1stlevel Thri- kreen barbarian has an ECL of 5 meaning its as powerful as an equivelent 5th level human character.
Its explained pretty well in the SRD http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/monstersAsRaces.html
