It was fun, I Didnt see any other way out of it really (Im the warlock). It was very tough for the level.

That's an inventive solution to the problem. I'd give some bonus xp for that.

I remember thinking when I read the module that that encounter would be tough. I think this is one of those occasions where, as a player, I'd wish someone in the party had twinked out Diplomacy or Intimidate so I could get that NPC to help. The module says that a bard's Inspire Courage will also do the trick.

Although, now that I think about it, starting with 3 bloodhawks and adding one every round, it seems like a party of 3rd level characters ought to be able to hold them off for a while, since the buggers only have 5 hp. The warlock should be popping one (on average) every other round by himself, and the other three characters should be able to do at least as well. Hmm.

yeah I was popping one a round, but the rogue and bard missed a few times, and the npc fighter didnt have cleave. The big accumlation occured when I (the warlock) went into the pit to try and hit the rock and went 3 rds without killing any ( I think I also rolled a 1 on an attack)

I almost laughed out loud when the 5th level aristotocrat was hitting better than the rest of the party combined for a few rounds.
