| That's an inventive solution to the problem. I'd give some bonus xp for that.
I remember thinking when I read the module that that encounter would be tough. I think this is one of those occasions where, as a player, I'd wish someone in the party had twinked out Diplomacy or Intimidate so I could get that NPC to help. The module says that a bard's Inspire Courage will also do the trick.
Although, now that I think about it, starting with 3 bloodhawks and adding one every round, it seems like a party of 3rd level characters ought to be able to hold them off for a while, since the buggers only have 5 hp. The warlock should be popping one (on average) every other round by himself, and the other three characters should be able to do at least as well. Hmm. | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? yeah I was popping one a round, but the rogue and bard missed a few times, and the npc fighter didnt have cleave. The big accumlation occured when I (the warlock) went into the pit to try and hit the rock and went 3 rds without killing any ( I think I also rolled a 1 on an attack) | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

I almost laughed out loud when the 5th level aristotocrat was hitting better than the rest of the party combined for a few rounds.
