This reminds me a lot of some stuff from Mage/Werewolf. I gather you are trying to basically making spirits, like a hate spirit or a corruption spirit. If that's the case, I would go with either Outsider or Elemental as the base type. I would actually lean towards elemental myself, though I don't know if it follows the most strict definitions of the creature type. But when I think about elementals I think of raw versions of the universes building blocks, and a spirit seems to closely match that in my head.

Have you read about the Living Spells in Eberron? Check the ECS.

Actually, after just rereading your post, I would also strongly suggest simply applying the living spell template to the emotion spell you want to create. If you don't know where that is, check out the Eberron Campaign Setting.

When I first heard animate, I thought you meant like a living animate object spell that flew around animating things like chairs and tables as it passed them. No direct damage but it could leave a big mess in it's wake.
