| What is the name of the FR creature that looks like a windsock, and built that other creature to hunt down Beholders?

| | Edit: Looks like IanB beat me to it. Not sure they built a creature to hunt Beholders, they use Beholders as enslaved minions or at least did quite often in the novels they were in. | | You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing? | |

| Should be the only one that looks like that. Right out of Monsters of Faerûn.

| Got home and looked it up...
The Phaerimm created the Gouger Beholderkin to hunt down and destroy the Beholders. The elder Sharn are responsible for imprisoning the Phaerimm under the Aunaroch Desert.
I was thinking the Gougers were from the original Fiend Folio, and that these 2 might be the 'master and servant'. | | Champion of the Flumph!!!

| Ahhh Gougers, right those would be the nasties. Could make for an excellent skirmish piece against those Beholder/Gauth bands, maybe we can convince Shoe about their need.
Oh and Sharn, I've been wanting one of these for a while as well. | Marjorie,
Granted that it's been many years since I traded away my original Fiend Folio, but I believe the only Beholder-related monster from it was the Spectator (if even that).
I do not recall hearing about the Gouger at all before 3rd Edition.
Cheers,

| Gougers were on one of the 2nd edition monsterous compendium sheets. They have been around for a bit. 10 years or so. A mini would be very cool for sure.
I would really like to get a phaerimm. It may look ugly but would be wicked good in the skirmish game. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! Check out my brand new blog: http://bshugg.blogspot.com

| The Sharn would make a great mini... a couple of Shades would be very cool. The standard trooper is multiclassed Fighter / Wizard. And the leaders would all be uber Epic. The Gouger would be nice as well. I could imagine the skirmish value and how could they not be great against Beholder or Gauth bands?
