| | Are there any good tiles to use for swarms that miniatures can stand on when they share the same space (preferably free, but any will do)? | | | |

| | Best bet for it would be the GW large round bases they run a few bucks for 5 or so. However cheapest way would be get some cardboard old soda box works and trace the size you want a viola swarm base that can be stood on. | | Asystole is a stable heart rhythm | |

| | I've decided that from now on, I'm just going to find a good 'swarmy' picture and print it out on a cardboard sheet so that I can cut it into 1" squares ... (remember that swarms can alter their shape and becomes a 1" X 4" creature, or an L shaped creature as well as a square). | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. | | I think that jgsugden's idea is very practical for swarms. I don't think that swarms are a practical concept for miniatures. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

Thanks, however, I think WotC could do a great swarm as part of the DDM line. I'd do it like this ...
1) Instead of being 1 large figure, it would instead be comprised of 4 medium creatures (which would activate simultaneously in skirmish as a single activation, and would be detroyed if they end their actions while not adjacent to another swarm piece). Net effect: They are more resilient to weapons than to area of effect spells (as weapons hurt 1 swarm, not all 4 swarms at the same time), and they are configurable.
2) Square bases instead of circular to make it easier to other figures on top of them in RPG.
3) Relatively flat figures to make it easier to other figures on top of them in RPG.
Perfect for RPG, and they'd work well in skirmish. | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. BAD EBAY SELLERS LIST (CLICK HERE): AVOID AT ALL COSTS

| | When I needed the acid beetle swarm for Age of Worms I just looked up beetle pictures on the net, found a great green one I liked, copied it a zillion times, resized the copies, and printed it on card stock. Cut them up into one in squares, and voila, beetle swarm! My players loved that I put in the extra effort to make them, and they looked great. | | Champion of the Yeti (large uncommon please!) But ultimately how would that work production/booster seeding -wise, I couldnt see WotC "wasting" 4 bases for one mini. And for that utility it would most likely net the piece as a rare.
I guess it would make sence if they just made a medium creature (spider) swarm, then stuck it in the common slot. Then anyone getting a case would be guarateed one full swarm. And give the stat card something similar to phalanx fighting for skirmish.
