| I was looking in the PDF's I have and could not find the "Improved Two-WEapon Fighting" feat, could someone tell me where to find it or just explain what it does ? My guess is that it negates the final -2/-2 for fighting with a double weapon or two weapons, but you never know. All I managed to find was the "Improved Two-Weapon Defense" feat...
Also, I was wondering if a player adds the maximum dexterity bonus from his shield as well as from his/her armor ? My guess is no, but just in case. Thanks in advance :) | |

| I don't have books with me, but I think it's in Complete Warrior.
Max Dex bonus isn't added to anything. It tells you how much of your dex bonus can added to your AC based on the specific armor your wearing. A shield has no max dex bonus. | |

It's right in the PH. It means that instead of one attack with your off hand weapon you also get a second attack with it at your second BAB - 5 | |

From the SRD:
IMPROVED TWO-WEAPON FIGHTING [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: Dex 17, Two-Weapon Fighting, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: In addition to the standard single extra attack you get with an off-hand weapon, you get a second attack with it, albeit at a –5 penalty.
Normal: Without this feat, you can only get a single extra attack with an off-hand weapon.
Special: A fighter may select Improved Two-Weapon Fighting as one of his fighter bonus feats.
A 6th-level ranger who has chosen the two-weapon combat style is treated as having Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, even if he does not have the prerequisites for it, but only when he is wearing light or no armor.

And reezel, can one add say the +3 DEX bonus from a Breastplate to the +2 from a Tower Shield ? That would make +8 for the plate and +6 from the shield...
Breast Plate gives a +5 to AC and trhe tower shield gives a +4 for a total of +9 to AC. The BP has a max dex bonus of +3 and the tower shield has a max dex bonus of +2. What this means is that if the character in question has a dex of 18 for example, that char can only add a +2 from their dex, not the entire +4.

| Bozak, the maximum dexterity bonus to AC can't be added. So with your example of a tower shield and breastplate, the maximum bonus would be 2. With any other shield it is 3.

Yes, that was a jab at many veterans that posted on this thread. You have an issue with me ? Email me personnaly if you have any "real" courage and not an entire mob waiting to lick your feet...
So, the answer was just that normal shields have no AC limit, just the Tower Shield...How
hard was that to simply tell me and not treat treat me like crap ??? Many veterans here are self-worshippers and it disgusts me...
Also, the french book also has a "Mastery" of Two-Weapon Fighting requiring a BAB of 11, I
am guessing it is the feat I was looking for. I guess I will wait to go check online instead of asking politely on a "Roleplaying" thread on a website devote to D&D... | |

It's just that Mex Dex Bonus is a essential and basic part of the game, and a fairly straight-forward rule at that.
Maybe the problem is you have a French PHB and it isn't as simply stated as the english version?
And trust me no one is saying anything other then if you read the rules for yourself you'll learn it a whole lot faster then on these boards. But if after reading them you still don't understand them by all means ask away.
Oh and Malin Lug was yanking your chain.
Lastly if you're having a hard time finding a feat or spell check out the consolidated lists from Wizards at: http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/lists
There are four list at this time for Feats, Spells, Prestige Classes, and a Core Class list, which includes Epics, core variants and racial substitutions.

I've read this thread through a few times now and I really don't see anything insulting in what jgsugden posted. It really would be a great idea for you to read through the rules a few times. You'd definitely eliminate the majority of these questions. I know I've pointed you to the SRD on several occasions as well (Blackguard PrC, etc). Also, on a personal note, I really don't understand why you feel that many people here "hate" you. However, responding to people with a string of masked insults isn't going make you any friends. | Thanks Moonsoon, now that I saw the BAB needed, it will be easy to spot. Well, I used to just forego max DEX bonus, so these ARE new rules to me and I wanted to be sure armors and shield did not overlap...
I did not feel Malin Lug was "yanking my chain", I feel like he was verbally abusive to me and used the "gang bang" effect to insult me in a very unprofesionnal way. As to me relaxing, well, that might never happen when I feel someone is treating me like an idiot or assumes French people are stupid [}:)]
More and more, I see the French PH is full of errors and I cannot wait for one of my players to buy the English version for 40% less ( do not get me started on that...) and all my core books will be in english :) | |

| L M, I just read your post and see that, while it makes sense, you seem to tip towards the veterans like jgsugden posted, who lives by his reputation, I guess, to the detriment of newer members and my insults are not masked at all, or at least not meant to be.
As to the "hate" issue, I go overboard with that, but I am sure if I showed this thread to a neutral observer or my therapist, he/she would see the exclusion and insulting aspects in such replies. | |
