| Healing spells and health potions. I also run this adventure. ( when I have time) I'm running it with 4 players. Keeping them alive is the biggest probelm (we started out 1st lvl, maybe you want to start them out a little higher) Also a well rounded group would help. Warrior, Wizard, Priest, Rogue. This adventure provides ample opportunity to exploit each classes abilities. If you have any further questions about it Emial me Wolfsbane114@yahoo.com

| We ran it and got around 1/3 through before the TPK's ground us down. Be very aware of the saves of your group as there are a ton of traps that could prove lethal in the WLD. Also, make sure you have a good grasp on the behind the scenes politics and power groups of each area and how they interact with each other. | | I am a leaf on the wind...Urrk!!--Wash, "Serenity" | |

Yeah I have to agree my players were in a kill everything mode.Which is ok but would have made some parts easier if they had recruited help. quote: We ran it and got around 1/3 through before the TPK's ground us down. I had ven warned them there was traps. This is the way it worked out. When they searched for traps there was none. they grew lax. Then blame Scorching ray trap. All I could do was shake my head and secertly smile behind the dms screen.

| | I'm sorry if this is a little off topic, but is this a adventure a D&D adventure? Or D20? I'm still not sure what the difference is between D20 and D&D. (I'm dm'ing/playing the 3.0 / 3.5 edition right now.) | | Champion of Dragotha

Check this out to find out what the d20 system means.

The WLD is an adventure designed to span all 20 levels of play. It's a d20 product produced by AEG. (Alderac Entertainment Group)

| As a player in a WLD game, it was tough. We caught just about every disease in the dungeon and almost had a TPK fighting the 1st Boss (Were Rat) we lasted until the Rakshasha (sp?) where most of the party died and we stopped playing for a while. The main problem was it gets a little tedious so maybe not playing too much and spreading it out will make it fresh.
Rangers and Druids, not much to do. I was a Ranger at first and then changed classes to Fighter.
You will need all the basics: Cleric & Rouge very useful, lots of traps and lots of things to hurt you. I would recommend a Paladin.
The fact that you can't leave, sets the mood. The PC's will learn (Hopefully) Not to over extend themselves as there is no town to go back to and heal up at.
We plan to make a new try at the dungeon again pretty soon.

Yeah this is an important point make sure your players pick classes that will be useful in the dungeon. Druids and rangers are definetly out. Diplomacy skills are useful too. BW is correct it does get tedious exploring room after room. | | I'm running this as well. I have 8 players for this with about 5 of them regularly showing up. The problem I have is the actual roleplaying because the players are killing everything in their path so there is barely any non-combat NPC interaction. Also because of the party size I had to modify many of the encounters. I've also subed in a few monsters and changed an encounter or 2. They are about 40% done with Map A. | | Champion of the Rust Monster Proud Member of Team Amish

| Read the book very carefully before play. Many of the encounters and conditions are TPKs in disguise. I sent my group in at 6-7 level, although they were completely unarmed and unarmored...I had to make it somewhat challenging!
There are 3 members of the original group of 7 that have survived thus far, but there have been 9 PC deaths and 4 NPC deaths. I roll my dice in the open, but have tweaked some of the encounters and conditions during play at an attempt at fairness. The WLD is a deathtrap...be warned. | | Email Offers | Trade History Champion of the Frost Giant Jarl "Pray that you meet death standing on your feet, rather than on your knees."
