| Heya all,
I picked up Red Hand of Doom a few days ago, and was wondering. . . A bunch of new "dragonspawn" monster types (Blackspawn Raiders, Bluespawn Thunderlizards, etc. etc.) managed to find their way into the ginormous evil horde. Are they new for this module, or have they (and other Spawn of Tiamat) appeared in some other rulebook/supplement?
Thanks,

| Red Hand of Doom is the first appearance of the Spawn of Tiamat, though their existence may have been inferred in Races of the Dragon.

| Maybe I am just blind, but I could not find descriptions of the various spawn, just stat blocks. Am I blind? There was at least a picture of the green one...
I'm not a big fan of introducing new monsters without a MM style entry, those have a lot of important info that gets left out of even the new detailed stat blocks. | | Anson on WotC boards

I'd like to second this thought. When a creature makes its first appearance, please give it a solid work-up like you would for a MM-type entry. Even if it's going to be fleshed out further in a MM/FF/etc., the basics would be great.
"Expect More": Or does it mean that there are merely more Dragonspawn arriving in different projects?
I'm so confused--although that is not particularly Earth-shattering news.[:o)] | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

Heya Shoe--thanks for the fast response. . .
The Spawn of Tiamat were indeed referenced (quite evocatively, if rather tangentially), in Races of the Dragon--it seemed a bit odd that we didn't get a "Monsters" section detailing them in that volume. Can we expect a comprehensive treatment of the Spawn in an upcoming sourcebook (Monster Manual 4 perhaps?), or for now are they going to be relegated to various adventure modules?
Thanks again,

Parallel design at work. It would have been better if RHoD had contained some more information on what the dragonspawn were, or at least where they came from -- i.e. "For more info on the spawn of Tiamat, see Races of the Dragon page blah or Monster Manual IV page blah."
But, at the risk of sounding like a marketing goob, 2006 is our Year of Dragons, and the Spawn of Tiamat figure prominently. Races of the Dragon and Red Hand are the first step. You'll see much more in June and July. | | Professional Fan of DDM
