Only thing better would be a warforged pirate. Or how about a warforged pirate-ninja? [:D]

I love things like this, but only because the story is awesome. I think classes like Ninja have feelings associated with them that when you look past make them very available beyond any oriental adventures game. The story makes sense and the character class compliments the story, not the other way around.

Interesting and cool backstory. It makes the concept of a Warforged Ninja more palatable to me.

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

*gasp* Pirates and Ninjas are natural enemies! How's this for a quickie?

Anchor, N Mithral Bodied Warforged (Male Personality) Rogue3/Swashbuckler3/Dread Pirate (Dishonorable) 3/Thief-Acrobat 2

Str 14 Dex 16 Con 14 Int 14 Wis 8 Cha 10 (28 Point Buy after stat adjustments for leveling up)

6HP +2d6 +3d10 +2d8 +2d6 +22 (68HP)

I usually use fractional BAB & Saves from Unearthed Arcana because it helps mitigate multiclassing penalties somewhat (he'd be at a +9 BAB vs. +8 by RAW), but I'll stick to RAW here.

I might try to hammer out some more stats/equipment later, he sounds like fun!

The Warforged now known as Anchor was commisioned from House Cannith by the Cyran military in 980 YK. He served as a reconaissance and infiltration specialist for twelve years, eventually becoming the first Warforged to serve with the elite Queen's Forward Blades unit. In early Lharvion 992 YK, he was ambushed while on patrol along the Cyre-Karrnath border. Outmatched, he was rendered inert by his Karrn attackers. He regained consciousness 6 months later aboard the pirate ship The Bloody Wake. He had been sold into servitude to the ship's captain as a deckhand. He took to life on the open seas ably and admirably, gaining his captain's trust and rising through the ranks to eventually become first mate. Two years to the day of his reawakening, Anchor lead a mutiny, killing his captain and taking control and ownership of The Bloody Wake. Since then, he has cut a ruthless swath across the Lhazaar Sea, earning a fearsome reputation for himself and his crew.

**edit** dropped Int from 15 to 14 - I had originally given him a 12th class level wit ha resulting stat increase. Oops!

nice backstory, both of them.

Anti-sean, now you have to figure out how to make a warforged ghost.

Thanks to you both! Yeah, I've been thinking of a warforged ghost recently. By RAW, it isn't legal (unless there's something in Libris Mortis that enables it, but I don't think it does - I don't have the book, so I can't really check), but the concept is just so damn cool that I'm more than willing to handwave/house rule it in my campaign.

**EDIT** OK, I figured I should kill some time between watching Lost and checking for a Preview at midnight, so here's a ghost for you. (not a ghost pirate, though - that's too scary even for me!)

---

Gorm took a sip of tal from his everfull tankard and scratched at a tuft of hair on his chin, deep in thought. His eyes scanned over the dead bodies before him and the surrounding alleyway, taking in as much information as possible. This was the fourth artificer murdered in this ward in the last two weeks. House Cannith was getting nervous: nervous enough to stoop to hiring him.

"Boss?"

The half-orc looked up into a large pair of milky white eyes set into a face that looked like a wet gray sack. "What is it, Mok?"

Mok jerked a thumb back in the direction of a group of Cannith magewrights and burecrats huddled together in the rain. "The natives are getting restless, Boss. They want to know what we've found out about all of this."

Gorm glared in their direction, idly fingering the delicate blue lines tracing around his forearm. "Go and tell the blasted Makers that we know as much as we did the other night: nothing. It's the same scenario as the last three murders: An artificer lies dead, sometimes alone, sometimes alone, no signs of a struggle, no wounds, faces frozen in abject horror. It just doesn't add up!"

"Boss, did you hear that?"

The inquisitive looked down at his associate. "Of course not. You're my eyes and ears, Mok, that's why I keep you around. What is it?"

Mok pointed further down the alleyway. "I don't know what it was. It sounded like it came from the other side of that wall."

"That's the outside wall of this tower," Gorm grunted, "nothing on the other side of that wall but a thousand-story drop."

The changeling's jaw went slack. "Sure, Boss...then how do you explain that?"

The air around Gorm and Mok grew cold as a pale, translucent hand reached through the wall towards them. Two large fingers and a thumb grasped at the air, afollowed by another hand. A moment later, the rest of the figure stepped through the wall and into view. It shimmered and wavered in the air, the rain passing straight through it. It resembled a tall, powerfully built warforged with a military standard bolted to its back, waving slowly despite a lack of wind. It turned its head towards the pair of inquisitives, a cold, terrible fire burning where its eyes once were.

"Boss?"

"Yeah, Mok?"

"Can I have that raise we talked about up front?"

Did you actually read the background for the character? It makes sense when you do. It's like I said, they had a character concept that makes a LOT of sense and Ninja best fit the concept.

I feel like too many people don't do this and certain classes can't expand to thier real possibilities because of the inability to open the mind to new possibilities that don't fit the old stereotype.

I'm convinced that the background makes perfect sense and totally justifies the concept of a Warforged Ninja. That's not my problem with it. My problem with it is that it is completely ridiculous. It makes more sense than a Warforged Wizard, but not much. The idea of a guy with a metal body being a wizard is just ludicrous. Yes, I know the entire body is not made of metal.

Let's face it. The fine writers at WoTC can come up with a background that can justify ANY type of concept. That doesn't mean they should. It's that kind of thinking that leads to crap like redeemed succubbuses riding Vrock mounts. WTF?

I am totally open to new ideas and concepts but that doesn't mean I'm going to like and/or accept all of them and I flatly reject the concept of a warforged ninja (and wizard for that matter)

There's a lot to like about D&D 3.x and Eberron and there's some stuff not to like, but that's what makes for interesting debate on these here forums. [:D]

Why we don´t have pirate as a core class! Swashbuckler is nice but not enough!!! :@

I like the warforged ninja is a nice way to make him looks realistic.
