| I recommend a Minotaur, even if you play it from level one. On 8 levels of Minotaur or level adjustment of +8 total, it gains 5 hit dices out of 8 and 6 BAB out of 8 for a second melee attack and the charge damage gets insane at full strenght ( 4d6 + STR bonus x 1.5 ) ! | | The half-ogre race in Races of Destiny isn't bad, mostly because you don't have to take a lot of weak levels of giant. | | Anson on WotC boards | |

| IanB...how does the half-ogre template compare to the Savage Species version.
Tons_of_fun, if you get levels to bump yourself up to ECL 8 as an ogre, that is definitely the way to go with fighter levels...extra feats besides the three you need for hulking hurler. | | mark - Champion of the Goblin Worg Riders | anteblue_at_yahoo_dot_com IHawk's Have/Want List | IHawk's Trade List | Completed Trades - 214 | Pending Trades - 0

| Another cheesy thing to do is start as a medium-size critter and have Enlarge permanently cast on you. You're now a Large creature (until a high-level caster dispels your permanency). This is also heavily dependant upon the DM involved.
I'd preference the Ogre. ECL 6 + Half-Dragon template puts you to ECL 9 to start. There's even a relatively close proxy mini available (half-fiend Ogre). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. | Centaur is the way to go. Hulking Hurler works off of your carrying capacity, and being a quadruped gives you a boosted capacity.
For 6 ECLs, its hard to beat that sort of bang for your buck. | | Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!

| | Goliath is another option with the powerful build they can count as large when it benefits them. and only a +1 level adjust lets you get more class levels in which would make getting the prereqs easier. | | Asystole is a stable heart rhythm | |

This is still the subject of some debate, but all indications from WotC is that Powerful Build isn't enough to qualify you for PrCs like Hulking Hurler or Warhulk. | | Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!

| | ogre, troll or minotaur seem like the best bets. The new half ogre from races of destiny might be a good call. The old 3.0 one in savage species pretty much kicked butt...too much so. | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

| I'd go for a Half-Ogre. Made a Half-Ogre monk once and he was amazing
Cheers
