| I don't have time to go in depth just this moment but I didn't care for the book at all. Like most of the Races of... books I felt like there was too much wasted space and that the new races in particular were lackluster.
I did like the kobold content well enough, and some of the mechanical stuff was pretty good. I'm not totally sure what it is that leads the environmental books and Complete... books to be so much more useful. | | Anson on WotC boards | |

| It's because they apply to a lot more of actual game play. When you come down to it, race only matters at the very beginning of character creation. Rarely does it have abilities that impact play past the first couple of levels.
You are always paying attention to classes and feats, however. (And the terrain books are there to generate adventures from, so that's great).

Nice review. It doesn't inspire me to rush out and buy the book. Then again, I haven't bothered with any of the Races or locations series. Too expensive when I have my plasticrack habit to keep up and from what I've seen most of the material isn't spectacular. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? | It's a rather specialist book, as I indicate. It's worth it for me, as I've a player who runs a kobold, and the sorcerer material is good as well, but it's not one of those "everyone must get it" types of books.

| Hmmm. A slightly negative review from the always effervescent Mr. Merric? Not good. I was really hoping that kobolds would get put into a DM focused book rather than a PC book. I guess that is a business decision. I am afraid I have to agree on the artwork, but there was one very neat picture of a kobold with black dragon blood that really caught me attention.

| Thanks for the preview again B, one question, while you brought up that the book has a "...In Eberron" sidebar, does it also have one for the Forgotten Realms? Was this an over-sight on your part or did Wizards choose to ignore their other setting?
Thx again for the preview an interesting read always. | | "I was sittin' here eatin' my muffin, drinkin' my coffee, replayin' the incident in my head, when I had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity." - Jules Winnfield Sales/Trades Bad (1): Ironfist Boulderbender Trades/Sales completed (8.): Danthl, Dafrca, Garyaxe, qillan_dvra, realmaster, Vandal_Savage, cavedweller, unearthed arcana. | There's no "in Forgotten Realms" sidebar, and it doesn't need it. You'd have no trouble using the material as presented in the Realms. In Eberron, dragons are handled differently.

| | Sounds like this Dragonborn race that hates Tiamat was made to be used in Red Hand of Doom. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight | |
